replacing 4 cylinder io with ?
 

gentlemen, my 488 4 cylinder has had it. thinking of replacing with straight 6 about 185 hp. would appreciate your comments. 1984 merc cruiser out drive currently ok. looking for best and easy swap out. thank you1 richard

V6 or V8 are going to be the easiest swap. You will need a new y-pipe for the exhaust and all the compenets to go with the engine. V6 uses the same ratio as your 488
