new fuel tank

getting ready to put a new tank in ,do you guys think a 80 gallon tank is too much for a v20?

RWilson2526 05-25-2010 12:38 PM

dont think there's any such thing as too big...if you can fit it, why not?

Blue_Runner 05-25-2010 01:06 PM

80 would be great! I wish mine was 80. Like RW said, will it fit?

Gas is 6 lbs per gallon. You are only talking an extra 115 - 120 lbs (over a 60 gallon tank) which will be centered and weight distributed evenly through the hull.

Do it if it will fit.

Talk about good range. Pair that with one of the efficient motors and you'll be going forever before a fillup.

Not with my 2-smoker  but still further than with 60.

I agree I would like a bigger tank too. 80 gal seems perfect.
BUT - The new ethanol blended fuel goes stale after only a few weeks. Make sure you use fuel stabilizer. I posted the other day about the 160 gal tank in the Whaler, always with old fuel. I have no answer.
