wet ride
 

I just got a 1984 v 20..I love the boat ..the only thing i can say is that when the waves are choppy i get so much spray over the windshield and into the back of the boat that i cant really have people sitting in the back...I boat is a tank and i know it will get me home but is there any way to reduce the spray?????? Thanks

On the first splash with mine, my Father had the pleasure to show me why I was incorrectly operating the boat.
I had been trimming it like any other boat, you don't do that with these.
He took the helm, achieved the same speed and rpms as what I was doing in the same portion of water and stopped the spray problem.
In my opinion, this "wet ride" of these hulls is due to lack of experience with these boats.
He has had much many hours experience with this boat offshore, I've only used it a few times for camping trips. Sorry I ain't more help.
Play with it at the next outing, you'll see.

Play with the trim as said and keep something else in mind,
the best way between two points is not always the straightest.
Where I boat I deal with a chop most of the time, sometimes down right nasty, especially in the afternoon with wind against tide.
Try trim adjustment and speed adjustment but also try a different angle to the wind and or wave set, you will find the one that does not throw water into the wind in a manner as to send spray back at you.

Willy and Tsubaki are right on...for instance...if you are "quartering" an oncoming wind/sea condition, you're gonna get wet in virtually any boat..if your boat kicks up a spray and you are downwind of it, better have your rubbers handy...about the only way to insure staying dry is to invest in a soft top w/front & side enclosures...it'll not only keep you dry, but you'll also find yourself going out earlier in the season and staying out later as well...season-stretcher as they say...:hi:
