Smart Tabs

I seriously thinking about getting Smart Tabs for my V-20 CC, I don't need load leveling but I want the low speed plaining ability. Comments, I'm going to get them in the next several days. Anybody running them?

I don't use trim tabs...mainly because of their expense... We all know that really they are the best way to go.
That being said, I use a Doel-fin on my engine for much the same reasons you just described. (Yes, it does cut down on my overall speed by a few mph, but with the 200hp engine it really doesn't matter to me if I'm doing 55 or just 50 mph)... and it does give you much better handling in turns at speed, etc. Just my two cents..:head:

Only problem with the smart tabs that I can see is that when you are backing down on something, the smart tabs will want to dig you boat downward, being that smart tabs are always deployed in the down position. I have no personal experience with them though.

I had a set on my John Almand 25'. Mine hung straight down, so when backing they just provided a little extra drag.. hardly noticable. There was no digging in effect.

I have not used the smart tabs--but looked at them as well---But went with the Lenco Tabs--and are they nice--I do use them to level out the boat from side to side as the load is not always equal for side to side and I can control how much bow down I am using--with the motor--I can really stick it in!!
