1986 185 Evinrude update Deal or NO DEAL
 

UPDATE
My buddy says the guy wants $1400 for it. seller claims it runs great and will water trail it,comes with controls seller says he just went out 40 miles and no porblems so what say you,,,, DEAL or NO DEAL ,,,the 185hp has him worried when it comes to parts and repair


Hey Guys did Evinrude ever make a 185 HP motor in 1986 and if so were they any good,, a buddy of mine is looking at one and the seller says its a 185hp i know they made 150hp and 175hp but never heard of the 185..THANKs

Double check the year, but according to the EVINRUDE parts catalog the last 185 was made in 85. Most likely it is just a cross-flow 200HP with different badges on it. Parts availability for most all of the OMC's is really good as so many different parts easily interchange amongst different years. OMC was good about not changing things up every year.

don't buy hard to find parts that was a commerical motor and only a few every made it is a looper but different rods and crank. PS don't buy

I had a 1986 185 on my 86 v-20. Same badging and cowling as a 150. Standard parts. They did build a 155 hp commercial engine.
