Do I need a bracket?
 

I was going to buy a bracket for the kicker 8 HP Nissan but it hangs nicely from the transom with no interference from anything, is it OK to run the kicker like that?

If you have the clearance for lifting and lowering the motors, you can steer the way you need without interference there should be no reason why not

Like Willy said.. if there's no interference you should be fine... In fact, you can get a tandem rig to link your kicker to your main motor and use your boats steering wheel to turn your kicker..Makes it much easier than using a tiller and trying to see where you're going from the back of the boat.
