Engine poll: please everyone respond.

Ok, Here's my question. I'm considering three different engines.

1: 1989 Evinrude 140 freshwater use. All it needs is paint. (owner suggested a new water pump, but said it was pumping before...mainly age for a new one)
$900 bucks

2: 1996 Yamaha 150 saltwater series. Got some corrosion on it, but functions fine. 3?? hrs on it. No prop, or controls included in this price. $1800 asking price.

3) 150 or 175 counter rotating Ocean runner/pro. 1600, and 1800 bucks.

4) Keep looking...

#1 sounds like the easiest way to get your boat on the water. Although you may be disappointed in the performance of the 140 compared to your old motor.

Well i've never actually had a motor running on this boat yet, so I don't have anything to compare to.. lol Meant to say I currently have OMC controls.

#1 or #4 would be my choices. YAMAHAs are good engines, but when you need parts it gets expensive REAL quick. The 150/175 OMC's are great engines, but I would rather have a standard rotation myself for better prop selection. The 90 degree OMC loopers are plentiful out there, and parts are readily available and cheap by comparison to the rest. Plus you already have the OMC controls.

I'm with Ferm, #1 or #4. #4 because as soon as you get something the deal of the century will get posted in the classified section.

I'll give you my old 90 model 225 with controls and prop for your Mckee.

i say #4 since you will be having the 140 shipped from NY plus there are a ton of 200 / 225 J/E motors out there.

It doesn't run does it?

#1 if it runs well, is reliable and will get you out on the water for the summer. Then just keep scouring the ads in case it breaks down on you. And go ahead and replace the impeller.
