Gimbal Bearing/Bellows kits Where 2 buy?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone.
I decided to try and get the knocking sound eliminated from the out drive.
Specs:
1974 V20 Step Lift.
Inline 6 cyl GM 250 (I stole from the Massey combine)
MC-1 outdrive I think? It has the loop on the top of it. Pre Ahpha?

Question: Where is the best place to buy a kit from. I see them on Ebay for $65-89.00 dollars. Marine stores want between $125-175.00. Am I buying junk from ebay?
Here is the link.

I can't believe how easy to remove the drive was....loads of grease. Only hard part was the bearing but it came easy with a slide hammer.
I have searched this site thoroughly and wasn't able to locate any post about "Where to buy" parts.

I am located in Niagara Falls.
Thanks all.

Stuff that has to do with ya sinking or breaking down is a no brainer! Stick with OEM!!!! A lot of the cheaper stuff is good for certain applications, like toilet paper. I like 2 ply and some like single but it all looks the same when we're waiting for the coast guard to come and get us. Just the ramblings of a "V" owner for the last 17 years thats all. Sorry.

I used EBASICPOWER when I did an ALPHA awhile back. All of the parts were MALLORY or SIERRA and of good quality at less than half dealer cost for OEM. I figure they should be replaced evry 4 or 5 years anyways to be safe as they do get brittle and break easily. They also have all of the tools you'll need to do the job right. There EBAY store is cheaper than there online store as well.

Not to start an arguement or nothin Ferm and I used Basic power for a lot of things when I owned the 3.7l but I had an issue with a u-joint bellows(sierra) a couple years ago that the stiffening wire inside the bellow wore thru the rubber and we were taking on water 40 miles from the beach. It was less than 6 months old, maybe defective material I don't know but personally I ain't taking that chance again. Cheap and Boats should not be used in the same sentence especially when lives are involved. JMHO,sorry.

sometimes it may be the mechanic and not the parts! but as a rule oem parts fit and perform the best.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try and find a dealer around here and stick with OEM. I am sooo afraid of sinking, gee why did I buy a boat? Oh yea...the kids.
