how big of a motor for a 20' dual wellcraft?
How big of a motor is entry level for a wellcraft dual console sportsman? I have a couple 140's in good price range. Thanks guys.

I'm on my 3rd v20. First one had a 115, too little hp. 2nd one had a 150 Yamaha, perfect match. Current one has a 200 Yamaha, which screams but is a tad overkill. Sweet spot for that boat is 150-175. 140 is close enough if you have a good deal on one.

150 are a nice match...............

The 140 JOHNNY-RUDE is a good running engine, and if propped right will run with many 150's. With a little work they can outrun a 150 and still be reliable.

I went from a Merc 150 2 stroke to a Suzuki DF140 4 stroke( they didn't have a DF150 at the time). With an average load, I went from ~41 mph WOT down to ~36 mph WOT. I don't miss the speed (certainly don't miss the Merc). Out of the inlet, it's rare to be flat enough to go WOT without getting beat up, so for me it worked out fine. If you're on a lake and can use the speed often, there is a noticable difference between the 140 and 150.
