Should I???
A buddy of mine just repowered his 17' Mako with a Yamaha F115. He got a smoking deal on it. Soooo, this got me wanting one too. But I'm thinking of an F150. I know the weight-power ratio won't be same as a 2 stroke, but the fuel economy would have me:happy:. I was thinking of repowering with 150-200 2 stroke, but with all the deals out there......

There are certainly some good deals out there right now. I've also seen some new leftover E-Tec's for good prices.
Someone I know will soon be making the switch to 4 stroke. I heard Santa was extra generous this year. :zip: |
if you need a new motor, i would look at it, but if you have a good running 2 stroke that you have faith in, i'd keep on using it. i know fuel mileage is an issue, but is it really worth it. you hear about 50% better fuel consumption, but all that means is and increase from 3 to 4.5 mpg. if you run a lot at high rpm it will be less than that.
what ever you do , take pictures....... |
that Yamah 150 fourstroke is a nice motor, but I doubt your going to find a real good deal on one, they are still in high demand. Ed's has them for 10,500. The best deal going is the 2 stroke 150 Yamaha, Ed's have them listed for 7,500

Can't go wrong with that motor. If I had the cash I would do it.

I would do it if I had the cash!! Man I wish I had cash for a new motor!! :bat:

The new motor thing is awesome--but spendy. I have talked with the 4 stroke guys and the 2 strokers and the new motors are all close to the same on fuel burn--it boils down to cost of maintence and up front expense. This was my answer---Below
