V20 Cousin?

Hi guys great forum here. I was browsing around and stumbled upon it and decided to register on this site to post a question.

I bought a boat last year a 1986 Chris Craft Sea Hawk 216 and I really cant find a lot of info on it or any forums with regard to it. But damm if it does not look like your V20's, I mean the bow flare the lines it looks almost identical.

Do you guys know if maybe they shared the same hull designs or maybe the mods were shared at one time? I just cant get over how close they resemble one another. I have not seen any other hulls that look like mine other than the V20 that I stumbled upon today browsing this forum.

Any info on the similar hulls?

Thanks for your time
Rc

Not sure about design sharing from one manufacturer to another. I checked one a picture of one for sale on the net. Hull looks real similar as you stated. Nice lines. There are a lot of boats designed with the bow flare and the steplift. My boat guru said to watch out for potential stringer issues with 1984-1986 as Chris Craft did not run the stringers far enough forward causing the owners lots of heartache. When pinned down on the model he could not say if the 216 was the one. The layout of the boat probably allows inspection of that part of the boat in the cabin. Welcome aboard. Good luck and with the wealth of knowledge here, I am sure you will get some feedback.

Yep mine looks just like those except it is a walk around style.

I attached a 2 pictures of the boat, let me know your thoughts. One is from when I first bought it before the Hard Top was installed or any seating or dash.

Thanks for the stringer info, I had not heard about that in any of my research. As you said there are ways to check from inside the cabin area and I will have a good look at it.

Thanks

Like Capt. J said, welcome aboard, your Chris is close enough. Sit back and enjoy the site

No expert here, but I would think the Sea Hawks evolved from the earlier Chris Craft Scorpion 211 models which look very close to the Wellcraft V-20 Step-lift. My neighbor recently picked one up for FREE. The entry and flare are VERY similar, but the Scorpion lacks the tumblehome towards the transom like the V-20. The Sea Hawks are sweet boats though, I looked at a couple before purchasing my Wellcraft. Welcome!!
