New Johnrudes
 

I saw a couple new Evinrudes up close and I was impressed. The big v6 outboards are almost as quiet as a 4-stroke. Those that own them have been saying this for a while but I was not a believer, they said the same about the Opti. I own a 225 OPTI and it is nowhere near as quiet. When it comes time to repower the flats boat I have got to check out their midrange motors.

The new EVINRUDES are quiet, even compared to the OPTI's. The OPTI's are still fairly quiet compared to old school 2 stropkers, but the air pump in them creates alot of noise at low speeds. And the last I heard was that JOHNSON was goiung the way of the dinosaur, and BRP was only going to be carrying on the ETEC under the EVINRUDE name.

I was pleasently suprised when I got my E-Tec 200HO on the water. Launched the boat--got onboard and had to ask the kid if he had started the motor to warm it up--LOL It is by far the quietest outboard I have ever run. She has been a great engine--I like the fuel economy(If there is such a thing with a big outboard) and the noise level.
