Bit the bullet on motor

Finally after reading, compairing prices, weights, best in town shops.....

Bit the bullet on 150 Opti.

11K including motor, controls, smartcraft guages, SS prop, oil tank with smartcraft sensor, complete seastar hyro steering, tax, 5 year warranty.

Shop is like 3 miles from my house!

Think I did ok.

congratulations on your purchase:clap:I personally think the optimax is the the best two stroke on the market. They have excellent fuel economy and tons of power. the smartcraft guages give loads of info. and they have a troll control feature that locks the engine at a desired trolling speed reguardless of conditions. in the event you ever need warranty work Mercury is an absolute pleasure to deal with. the towboat I drive has a 225 opti. it has 392 hours on it and its not even two seasons old yet.

If you got all of that for $11K it sounds like you stole it. Down here just the engine will fetch $10K-$11K, let alone the SMARTCRAFT tach and controls plus the $1K SEASTAR system. And as far as economy goes, the OPTIMAX wins hands down. The new ETECS are good, but many have said they don't do as good as the older FICHTS did and can't hold a candle to the OPTIMAX. Plus the 150 is built on the 2.5L platform that MERC has used for YEARS and is said to be the most economical OPTI they produce.

Congrats.

Its always exciting getting a new motor. Take real good care of that merc. I hated mine with a passion but some people like em. When they run they run strong. Just take care of it and it should be fine.

Congrats.
