Saddle Tank Cleanout Part 2
Hey Folks,
Here are some pics of the screens from the siphon tubes. How about those babies? http://picasaweb.google.com/mousaton...CJb2l7DrnYm4RA I also replaced the rubber gasket on the gas gauge ring. See it? It's reddish. I used a rod with slender rag rolled around it to plunger out the tubes, figuring I'm going to remove all the crud in the bottom of the tanks anyhow. That's the next step. You guys have had great suggestions (as opposed to the Yankee mentality, which is always after the fact: "You know what you shoulda done here..."), and I just need to settle on a method and go after it. Acetone and stones? Power washer? Most of what I can see in the tanks is small floating particulate matter. The insides of the tanks themselves look clean. That is, no scum lining the aluminum. I think, actually, a few rounds of putting in a half gallon of gas, swishing it around, and straining it out through a coffee filter oughta do the trick. Wonder how the coffee will taste? Talk about high octane! |
Good job...while you got 'em out, you might wanna do a pressure test and see if you get any leak-down...
