Hello again, the dual console i was looking at end up to no good(had to be self bailling). I found a 1990 with a 150 HP motor. What i would like to know is what speed you guys get with a 150 HP and also what you guys get with 200 or 225 HP(might have to repower), thanks.

Depending on engine/hull condition with a 150 you are looking at between 38-44 mph loaded up.
The 225 two stroke I drove made 45-47 mph on gps smooth water and trimmed up, full tank and three guys and enclosure up.
Greatly diminishing returns with these hulls above 150 hp. lot of fuel expense and weight on back of transom for little gain above 150. This is especially true with a four stroke above 150.
the ETEC gives you more power to weight so would be better, in the 175 - 200 hp range.
A bracket adds performance with a smaller engine you would get going with another larger engine. With a slight loss of manueverablity. And the larger engines on the brackets effect ride quality and will cause your stern to sit low in the water often below the scuppers, and you have to watch coming off of plane to abruptly as you can come close to giving your engine a dunking.

check this thread out....lots of talk about HP and top speed. My 150 gets me 37 mph but I think its a little tired. seems like most 150's get you 42-43 mph from what I've read and as Willy said the 150 seems to be a nice fit.

Thanks guys, i did find the performance site and went through the whole thing. Looks like the 150 is the best match and lighter the better. I did have a Zuki DF175 on my 2008 Carolina Skiff DLV238 but never got to really know the motor, i sold the rig with only 8 hours on it. I heard though that the DF150 has "lock up" problems and Suzuki knows about it but they have no fix yet.

I've got a '91 V w/ a '91 200 Yammi. I've hit 50 w/ 2 people, minimal gas, and a tail wind. If/when I repower it'll be a 150. If $$ weren't an isssue I'd enclose the transom and drop a 150 on a Porta-Bracket.

I have to say I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my 200. It way outperforms my old 155 and burns less fuel doing it. Of course, my 155 was an '89 and plumb wore out. But the 200 is probably more than the PD needs, and a 150 will get the job done nicely.
