Good morning

Some of you may recall one of my recent posts about my motor loosing power while underway...you gave me excellent tips on the subjec which I used to troubleshoot my problem.

I started by replacing the Racor filter and fuel line priming bulb...after that we went fishing and noticed the motor doing the same thing, loosing power underway at any given speed/rpm's, a few pumps on the fuel bulb and the motor would run strong again.

Yesterday I had a little time and continued to persue this problem, I popped open the fuel tank excess cover and this is what I found; tons of exterior corrosion on the connecting fitings which leads me to think that I might have some build up inside these metal componnents, causing chocking of the fuel flow thus, giving me my loss of power problem.

I'm thinking: removing the little valve and the anti-siphon check valve (if I have one here)...and go from there...

Possible that it's there, but I had similar issue not too long ago and it was larger pieces of tank junk getting stuck in the pickup tube restricting flow.

I would consider checking the parts there in the picture to start with.
But may be worth pulling up the pickup tube to inspect tube and tank.

Maybe contaminated fuel? Is the fuel fresh?

Here is my thoughts on this..
Only because of the condition shown in the picture spray some WD and let it soak..
In the interim use a compressor and blow the line back into the tank, your pickup line in the tank has a mesh at the bottom it may be clog with the curd like stuff. Your new filter you mentioned will grab all crap as they are syphoned out the tank by the engine especially if you have the clean out bowl at the bottom
Base on your pictures you DO NOT have the check valve installed its normally a additional nipple screwed in before or after the valve you see or it very well be where the clamp is ..
The fix I mentioned will keep you Boating until season ends then u can start replacing the pickup line and valve if you so desire..

Yes, the fuel is fresh.

Thanks for the tips by the way! I'm going to work on it this afternmoon and the plan of attack is to blow air backwards in the fluel line. You're right, if I can get it to work alright, that's all I'll do on it for now. This is fishing season NOT fixing season:train:

Pick up tube
 

I had pin holes in my pick up tubes so I put a plug in them and had some fittings welded at the end of the tank about 1" up.
