Transom repair

I just got a 1975 V20,( no motor ) need to repair transom before I put a motor on it I was thinking about hogging out the wood a nd filling with arjay or nidecore untill I realized two big vertical cracks on the inner skin right under where the motor would be, just above where the deck meets the transom. I feel like maybe the stringers are not attached, not sure
I will send pictures, this could be a nightmare.I am trying to avoid ripping the whole back of the boat off. Is there another way to tell if the stringers are good?

Welcome to the site!
That one don't have flotation, you have a lot of possibilities there of how to work on the transom and stringers. I'd suggest putting inspection hatches in the floor to work from in conjunction with redoing the transom and foam the bottom when done.
Aw heck, just look at some of these and start asking questions.
And I'm nowhere near complete fixing and upgrading mine.

I concur with your assesment of the stringers. While I'm a proponent of the pourable transom method as it worked well on my boat, you may be better served curint out the rear section of innerliner and doing this one by traditional methods. You'll be able to address any stringer issues then
