How did you installed your downrigger ?
I will have to install 2 downriggers , 1 on each side.
I hope to install them over the side , ( grrr, i don't know the name of it ) but if you look the welcome page of the scotty cie. you will understand quickly. ( can you tell me the name of it, please ? Thank's ) . Here the link of the installation i would like to do. the third pictures of the scotty web site ( welcome page ) look like the installation i would like to do . http://www.scotty.com/index.htm So, what i should i do to make sure the downrigger will be secure ? If you have some pics, it will be appreciate. |
I dont have down riggers so I dont know if I am going to be much help....you seem to want to mount the downriggers on the Gunwhale (pronounced gunnel) It would look to me those models must be screwed in or through bolted right to the gunwhale. you would have to check the size of the mounting plate and see if you have enough flat space on your boat to mount.
dont they make models that slip into the rod holders? that would probably be easier.... maybe somebody else will chime in. good luck |

Sorry I don't have any pictures to show you, I mounted mine as Wilson suggested. I have used them for two seasons with no problems. I don't fish for steelhead very often so that is probaly why it works for me. If I was to become a more avid salmon fisherman I too would through bolt them on the gunwhale (gunnel). Billy Mac

Thank's all,
I think i got the answer today at the lake. One angler put them on a braket ( tubing 2X 6 ) mounted on 2 8 '' base high. The braket look like 96 '' long . At each extremite, 1 downrigger is bolted. I think it secure very well, mounted that way. |
