hi repowering a 83 v-20 with a 150 yamaha four stroke looking for prop size to start with

Some where between a 15" to 19" pitch seems to be the norm for the 150 horse on these boats.
Sorry I'm not more specific, I haven't ventured far from my 14x19 stainless prop. It has covered most aspects of what I want the boat to do.
A 17" pitch would be a safe starting point not knowing your boating habits. Heavy loaded boats may need a lower number, light loaded may need a higher number.
Subtle changes in motor height on the transom will correct a lot of performance problems as will a different type of prop in the same diameter and pitch.
Hopefully one of these other guys can get you a lot closer than me.

You don't say cuddy or CC or Dually??

I had a cuddy and carryed a lot of weight so getting out the hole quick and power was for me, I used a 15 x 15 1/4 was perfect.

But as said 17 is were to start with the others, depends what you are looking to get from your boat?

Franco's got a 4 stroke 150 Yam on his CC...if we can get him to tell us what he's spinnin', it oughtta be close...

Start w/a 3 blade x 15 1/4" diameter and 17 PITCH...and I'm only assumn' yer lookin' at stainless steel...

6600 rpms? that sounds like alot....

Them kind of RPM's I don't think it will be running long!!
