Work Stopage
 

Well, with the cold weather and the snow, I had to do a work stopage on my garage project.
The siding seems to break in the cold weather when cutting with snips. I could use a circ. saw with the blade turned around, but I dont feel like making a jig.

Lumber should be proud of me. All my corners match going up along the corner post.
Come on spring time.

Still need to rip out the door, its rusted out, and its a custom door because it swings out instead on in. Thats another 200 bucks. : (

Hey Lumber..or anyone else who may have insite:
I wanted to insulate the ceiling and walls prior to drywalling. The garage wonted be heated or cooled. Is this over kill ??
I just figured if I insulate, it would cut down on the chill in the winter, and if I ever convert the garage to a living quarters, it's alreay insulated. ????
Any input would be great.

Any local wiring guys out there. I need to add a sub panel and then wire my lighting and outlets. Think I can do it, But Lefty thinks I'll burn the house down.

Hammer, for no more than it would cost I would definitely insulate. I can't see the pics but I'm sure it looks awesome! I'm envious....

as slow as construction is (at least around here) you can probaly pick up an electricians helper to guide you. or at least put in the sub panel and you take it from there. i would also put an outlet every other stud. you don't have to use them all, but i hate not having one where i want it.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I added plenty of outlets inside, on the walls, plus in the ceiling and outside.

Excellent work Mike! Looks really good! I would definately insulate it before drywalling. I put in a 100 amp breaker in the 200 amp breaker panel in the house and ran cable to a 100 amp sub panel in my garage. Im feeding a 30 amp welder, lights, outlets and a large air compressor with no problems. I also mounted outlets in the ceiling for garage door openers and shop lights. Is it attached to your house? If so I would definately invest in door openers. Its really nice when its cold and raining to be able to drive right in and shut the door without getting wet!

That looks great mike keep up the good work,,, and definitly insulate ,,,,, it will keep it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter even if you want to put a small space heater in there

ps I like that vinyl siding with the horizonal bead...
