What year for Yam stainless shift shaft?
Title says it all. What year did they go to the stainless shift shaft?
Thanks, |
I'm thinking it was '92 Air. Could be '91, but I think I'm right with my first guess.
|
Thanks. Definately the first thing I'm going to check when I look at a 92'.

I think you got to pull the engine apart to do it. Also Yammi did a steel switch before they even went to a stainless due to corrosion problems and I think that was earlier than 91-92. Mine is a 92 and I believe it is stainless though not sure

94 or 95 is when they went to it. I have a 93 250 parts motor that definately does NOT have the stainless shaft in it. And yes the powerhead MUST come off to do it. MONKEYBUTLER has a post about replacing his and all of the fun he's been through with it.

I know I have heard of '92 150's with shift problems. I'm in the middle of doing this job on my '86 220HP. Here's a link...
