So much temptation

There is so much temptation out there right now, I just don't know how much longer I can hold myself back.

This one I REALLY WANT, BAD! My 315HP MERCRUISER would look good nestled down in there, and this one is already set-up with a BRAVO.

And the straw that may break my back. This beaty popped up tonight on CL. Would take some work to convert it to a single, but it looks like one heck of a foundation to build up.

I thought I had found one close to home, but it ended up being a generic copy set-up with a gil for an outboard.

Nice looking projects. Ferm you would want to keep those I/O's??? Why not convert something like that to a bracket and outboard?

i have yet to see someone convert a fourmula 233 to an outboard that had good results(thats not saying it can't be done). those boats don't like the extra weight hanging off the back. They actualy run better with a jackshaft I/O set up(see the Albemarle 24). The 79 we used to run had twin Volvo Aq151's and we would still load the bow with all our gear/ice/tackle/ misc crap to keep the bow down on the way out. If you ever get them in 1 to 2 or smooth rollers far enough apart you can really let it hang out, but for runing into 3-4 on the way out in the moring on the way to fishing grounds, they need all the help keeping the bow down. The race boats those hulls were made after didn't have to worry about breaking tackle, accesories, gear or shaking up the beer too much. All they had to worry about was breaking the drivers and passengers.

I REALLY want one with a single small block I/O in it. This would lighten the stern up vs two 4 or 6 cylinder I/O's, and not have the see-saw problems of a bracketed boat. And nothing against outboards, but I have a VERY nice 2004 315HP MERCRUISER in the shop with around 66 hours on it. Not to mention the fact I can't afford to buy a modern 4 stroke or DFI outboard, and old school 2 strokes just use too much fuel. I want a boat capable of going out to the MIDDLE GROUNDS and the DRY TORTUGAS. With old school 2 stroke power I would need a floating gas can to do this, so economy is needed to offset fuel capacity. I REALLY like 2 strokers, but they just don't fit the bill for what I ultimately want.

I haven't been to the island yet. My ancestors came to the US in 1841 and went straight to FT JEFFERSON to serve there time in the military. So for me I want to go and spend some time there for history.
