ride of a 23 w/a
i was curious to see if anyone has ever rode in a wellcraft 23 w/a. i am assuming the hull is the same as a v23. i think its 1991 model.

I believe the 228 is closer to the 248 in hull shape, so they are probably pretty similiar. If so it isn't a bad ride, but is sensitive to balance and doesn't go into the rough fast.

it still doesnt sound bad. they have one for sale next to here for really cheap and it has twin 140 loopers. it has the trim tabs and some other options. i never owned a w/a or cuddy but they do look like they have alot of room in the back. i'll have to go look at the boat and experience the lay out 1st hand. ferm you think she would be able to run 30 mph in 1-3's?

You might find a great deal on twin boats right now the problem is that there is not any good deals on the amount of gas those older motors are going to suck up. I'd rather pay more for a 23 WA with a larger single motor then any boat with twin older motors. Thats the reason there are so many for sale right now and they are not selling even at real low prices.

that is true, but im not worried about the fuel i always have people willing to chip in. i just need twins so i can get back in 65 miles out. also if i really like the boat i will put some DI's on the back. anyone knows if it has a fishbox?

Are you sure it's only a 228 and not a 248? Normally twins only came on the 248 and larger from the ones I've seen. I've seen a few 228's with twin 115's, but that's about the biggest I have seen. 30 MPH in 1-3 footers will probably be pushing it a bit hard from my experience in a 248. The 248 I rode in did pretty good up to 22 MPH, but beyond that it started pounding HARD.

That looks like a 230, If it is then it has 18 degrees of deadrise to it. Could also be a 236 which would have 20 degrees of dead-rise to it and possibly a much larger fuel tank.

it doesnt seem to bad of a boat from the specs. it was what im looking for, bait keeper, large fishbox, 22gal livewell and at least 100 gal fuel tank. i can live with 18 deg of dead rise. it should be pretty efficient being it does not have alot of v to it.

It appears to be a 236 from the photos off the WELLCRAFT site and the HP hanging off the back. That there is a different animal than the 248 I've ridden in. Depending upon year it could have a 100 gallon or 140 gallon tank in her.
