cracked rod boxes

does anyone know how to repair cracks in the rod boxes that sit on the sides of the boat? you know the ones those big plastic one that come with the boat, how do you fix the cracks that show up after your son uses it as a foot rest

I pulled the rod boxes and fixed the cracks with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin on the backside of the box. I also reinforced the rod boxes with a layer of cloth and resin over the entire backside of the box. Used Bondo on the outside of the box to make repaired cracks invisible. Painted the rod boxes with Interlux "Brightside" paint and refinished the teak with "Cetol Natural Teak". I think the boxes are now better and stronger than new.

i was gonna use fiberglass tape on the back with an epoxy and for the front spot putty, do you think that will work and paint the boxes

same thing on the re-enforcing the boxes, but i also bonded strips of pressure treated wood to the inside of the cut out in the side of the liner for the rod boxes to have something to screw to when re-installing..
