What you think of this deal??
 

can'tll for sure, but those look like VX76 250's, they are the fuel drinkest things Yamaha ever built. They use 6 1 bbl carbs and have an enrichment circut on each engine that goes haywire and makes them burn even more full. If they were the OX66 250's they'd be a better deal. The VX were great motors,, just built when gas was a lot cheaper. Biggest thing I've heard of them doing was wrist pin bering issues on the top cylinders, I don't know what causes it, but I've seen several that have had that problem. Seen the probelm repaired without even pulling the power head

The search goes on!! Just always keeping my eyes open. Wed will be a huge test with the 173 Merc!! 4 Guys, 100 gal gas and and all gear for tuna, cod, haddock, and pollock.
When I did the test with BS it was 2 guys o gear and lucky 1/2 tank gas.

Decent engines, but like SPARE said THEY ARE THIRSTY!. The OX66 is spoken of pretty highly for reliability, I have heard the carb motors are not the best for reliability. They have alot of carb issues from what I have heard from YAMAHA techs, and the carbs on them things are almost impossible to sync. The carb issues is what I heard led to most of the engine problems. That's why around the mid 90's they went to the OX66 on almost all of them to improve the reliability on em.

They are a pair of 1997 Yamaha 250 OX 66 motors which were running perfect when I pulled them off my boat. There are no dings in the wheels or gear cases and they need nothing but a boat.... The port engine is counter rotation. I think there are around 6-800 hours on the motors, I did not have an hour meter on the boat. No compression test when I laid them up, but did one the season before and they were fine....we can do one anytime you would like. They are very clean motors.

The engine covers are in great shape with little wear or scratches. Tilt motors and system have zero corrosion. I have harnesses, gauges, controls and jack plates as my boat had a 25 inch transom and these are 30 inch motors. We are asking $3750.00 for each motor and yes we can run them.... If you are interested, come take a look and make an offer. They must go as my Dad needs the space in his garage.

man ox66's i would buy both and keep the other as a spare. 30" shafts thats an easy fix with extender plates i think cmc makes them for about a note.

I can't afford one right now, never mind two!! Also they are 30" already so I will need one of his jack plate as I am 25"

I got some inside info on these today, a buddy says they belong to another buddy of ours friend!!

I hear that i might be able to get one for $2500?? I going to see him tomorrow so I will ask whats up.
