Boarding Step

Well I have the ladder situation for boarding when playing or at least when you have the need for a ladder and can remember to bring it.

My only consern was when I might need a ladder and failed to put it in the boat. Look I'm about the youngest and probably best physically fit to climb into the boat without a ladder in case of an unforseen problem, Father turned 66 this week, neighbor is 57, ain't no way the wife can put her foot on the fin of the motor and climb into the backsplash, etc, etc.
Thought about a rope ladder or a swim platform. Keep in mind, this is intended mainly for emergency. Swim platforms are always in my way fishing, so that was gonna be a last resort. The rope ladder wouldn't do me any good if it was stowed and I was on the beach and then needed to get into the boat.
The thing that kept comming back to me was the need for a step on the transom as low as possible. Having never seen one I expected there to be none available. So I started playing with Starboard.
This is what I came up with.

The more I kept looking at it the more uncomfortable with it I became. Well time for a second opionion, walked next door to ask Daddy what he thought. His responce was about as iffy as mine.
He told me that he had a boat with steps on the transom and they were made of a cast material and worked very well. So on the computer I go.
Easily found some made by Perko, only problem I can't find any descriptions of the angle, picture looks like a 90 degree angle.

Went to 3 major boating stores and they had never heard of these. After no information about the Perko type, I accidentally ran across some by Buck Algonquin.
Couldn't steal pictures of them anywhere but they did make one style that was on a 100 degree angle, bronze cast.
So this is what I ended up with.

Keep in mind, this is intended for an emergency situation and not to be used every outing, that is what the ladder is for.

That happened to me ONCE.
Since then that has been in the back of my mind.
My biggest concern would be getting someone else back in the boat, hell, I weigh 150 soakin wet.
