a little history

My friend sent me this, thought you fellows should see it.

Your Social Security.....

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones)didn't know this........
It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids.

They need a little history lesson on what's what; andit doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican.....

Facts areFacts!!!

******************

Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the SocialSecurity (FICA) Program.
He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual income into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible fromtheir income for tax purposes each year.

4.) That the money the participants put into theindependent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General Operating Fund, and therefore, would only be used to
fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other government program.

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years......

Those who are receiving their monthly checks now are finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the federal government to 'put away' --you may be interested in the following:

------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of theUS.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments!

The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

-------------- -------------------------- ------------------------------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

And the bad part is, people like me have learned this in high school and choose to keep perpetuating this extortion, rationalizing that it is only a little bit, only a little more, just a little more often and with fewer allowed deductions.
When this thing blows up, the Constitution will not be able to save US.
As always our children and children's-children, will have to deal with our past and lack of present resolve.

How do you stop "perpetuating this extortion". I'd forfeit all I've paid if I could get out of it. I'd also like to get the half my employer pays. I try not to think of how many extra millions I'd have at retirement if I could just invest my and my employer's payments into low risk investments. Find a retirement investment calculator and put your investment at 15.3% and the return at something reasonable like 7%. Even in today's economy I'm getting nearly 10% on most of my investments. See what 10% would get you.

Hey Eight, you have to share with us just where you are getting 10% return on your investments.

One question? Why didn't a Republican president with a republican controlled congress change this? Billy Mac

because most of the republicans aren't conservatives.

i found this thought it to be interesting. spearheaded by mr obama.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/.../~c109ol8eal::

odd that he is anti-war, when we introduced this bill on fighting terror in the congo. to me, it seems like the same old tactics john kerry was using in '04. tell everybody what they want to hear and make sure no one notices that your "speaking out both sides of your mouth."

the main reason why they dont abolish mandatory contributions to social security. elected officials hand out money to those who wish to obtain this money via medicare, social security benefits, ESL courses in shcool, free health care, etc, as a means of bribery to their pool of voters hoping to receive their vote.

to put it plain and simple without sugar coating it. on an after tax basis. if we put each a ten dollars in a bucket and a year later i get 4 dollars you get 4 dollars and the other 2 dollars are given away to someone who never put it, how rationally speaking is that fair?

With all do respect, the ramblings on Social Security laid forth by our distinguished brother William are shown to be only partial truths on Snopes...not that Snopes is 100% reliable, but I believe its a pretty reputable source (not that Willy ain't!!) :hi:

willy 08-04-2008 10:09 AM

Blue I did not check thru all of it but most of it I know to be the truth not from snopes or any place else, but because I was aware of it and saw it happen, at least a lot of it and I remember the controversies when it happened.

the simple fact of the matter is our people are not informed enough or just don't care enough or have their personal government teat they are attached to to change it and stop electing the same sh!t from both parties into office.

Therefore our country is turning from a great example of human freedom and great endeavors to a european version of a socialist nation which is what a great many, especially in the democratic party want it to be. In fact they have strived to make it that way and are on a serious march to do so come this november if a whole bunch of people don't wake the f!ck up and get out and vote this congress and their new messiah out of office.

I do not want the government to take care of me, to tax me so I have to work until the end of July each year before my burden is done to them and the rest is mine. Think about that for awhile and if you do not get enraged then I am afraid somewhere along the line they managed to castrate a lot of good men. And we are lost.
They have outright lied to us, stolen from us, and plan to take the little they have left us and give it to those who neither have earned it, bled for it, saved it, built it or deserve it and a lot of people just cannot see it.
We have been on a almost 50 year frog cooking experiment and because of the greed of the democratic party for absolute control of all of government they are even doing everything they can to ensure that our cities are full of illegals, and that our population has an expectation that everything is given to them. Free everything to everybody.
There has been a good number of republicans either involved because they do not have the intestinal fortitude or because of greed ensuring that they get their piece of the pie that have gone along with them.
But the fact remains it is the democraztic party that is now on a hell bent mission to turn us into a socialist state.
If you can't see that then at least step back and think to yourselves, does Nancy Pelosi represent me and my way of thinking, are her policies and those of Harry Reid what I believe America should be?
Are the likes of the puppet messiah, the one who is called obama represent me and what I beleive America should be?
I personally find them detestable, dellusional, and more in line with the politburo than what should be the U.S Congress.
But what the hell, what harm can they really do? lets put them in office again and again and again.
They really need to change the name of that once noble party, and if it is what the majority of Americans want, what they want their names assosiated with then so be it. God help us all.
