Well we hit the water around noon and it was slow as we trolled around. Around 7:00 PM at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge we found a bunch of small stripers hitting the surface. We decided to throw anchor and cast for a few. We also threw an ell on and ran it to the bottom. After about 10min. the pole with the ell started running it took all I had to get the pole out of the holder. After about 10min we had a 45' striper in the boat. We added another 44' and 37' and a 3 others anround 20 to 22'. I'd say in about 2 hours we caught around 50 and those 3 big ones where icing on the cake.

Nice going! When all else fails I alway got to a ell my self, can't go wrong ;D
You guys are killing me with all these reports of stripers!! I needed to take a break @ lunch and check out some of my spring spots for activity :-/ Its going to be a long winter :'(

I've never fished eels from the boat. Do you hook them in the head or the tail? Do you use a carolina rig?

Yup, with as litle wait as possible ( I use a rubber core sinker attached to the main line).. If you are fishing a place with alott of current or you have to fast of a drift, try 3-waying them about 2-3 feet above the bottom, then hold on 8)

I can't wait to try this out. Sounds like it would beat the snot out of trolling around 1400 - 1800 rpms burning up all that unnecessary fuel ::)

We caught ours on the bottom but allot of people will use floats and fish them up top. I usually will do both until we figure out were they are hitting. This time of year in Tidewater Va. Ells are the deal as their is a ton of feed fish and its tougher to get the big one to hit the fake stuff. Now in January we start trolling to cover more ground using spreaders and Mojo's. The big one I caught Sunday night ended up weighing 38 pounds 2 short of citation and I think if I could have weighed it in Sunday night it would have been 40 pounds or more.
