Mulv80 07-14-2008 01:06 PM

Go get it Mike. You can bring back to Philly and park it at my house:beer:

Airslot 07-14-2008 01:48 PM

Oh my...Please don't post any pics and let this fall off the board. I really don;t need to spend the money right now...

Blue_Runner 07-14-2008 04:07 PM

My bro-in-law in Wilmington e-mailed me that one this morning....I said, well, are you going to get it or what? He said with a baby on the way he wasn't going to act on it. I said oh well, I guess I'll have to post if up for the fellas. I immediately thought about Willy but log on and see he's already found his 2nd love. So, come one Slot, come over to the dark side....you can pull that thing home for $1500 I'd bet....

Airslot 07-14-2008 05:01 PM

Blue, please don;t encourage me...

deshet 07-14-2008 05:16 PM

Sorry guys But I bought this one at about 1:00 pm local.

It sucks that it does not have a trailer but a 21' dually should make a nice boat. If one of you guys really wants it I would give it up to one of you.

Thanks

Blue_Runner 07-15-2008 12:07 PM

Really? I'm so glad someone on here bought it! Got pix? We all want to see!! Is it in good shape? I hear ya bro!

Deshet, is it really a V21 dual console or is it a cuddy cabin? We would love to see her :pic:

deshet 07-15-2008 03:53 PM

I actually gave the guy a small deposit sight unseen through paypal. I hope it is worth the money but I figure the hull is worth at least $1500 at worst as long as the transome is good. I have never heard of a bad transome on a V21 but I am sure you guys know better then I do. And the lower unit should be worth around $800. I think he said the prop was stainless.

But the guy seemed to be pretty honest and he made the boat sound like it was extremely clean. Worst comes to worst I waste a few hundred bucks.

Thanks

deshet 07-15-2008 03:57 PM

Blue_Runner

Could I pay your bother a few bucks to check it out for me I am suppose to pick it up this weekend but it would be a long trip for a junk boat if it turns out that way. I don't expect him to be a expert but a couple of pics would be nice.

PM me if interested.

Thanks

CaptJJ 07-15-2008 09:36 PM

Okay I will admit I am lazy..........please tell me the difference between my v20 vs a v21 ??? Looks like there is just a bracket added, correct? any other differences? I have seen a few of these and figured they were factory but didn't realize they were rebadged because of it. Should I keep my eye open is it a big upgrade?

Same hull, small factory integrated "bracket" Different liner and cap, slightly raked windsheild, higher deck.

CaptJJ 07-16-2008 05:17 AM

Sounds nice.

CaptJJ 07-16-2008 05:29 AM

Just found the time to check out the gallery shots, lots of improvements and they all look for the better. Good luck looks like you scored a good hull.

Deshet, only problem I see is that my bro-in law wants it too so he might say its crap just to buy it out from under you LOL!! No seriously, I will ask him. He just emailed me a minute ago. Here is what his email said:

I decided to call the guy about the v21, he has a deposit on it but will call me if the guy doesn't take it.
Small world ain't it?

Deshet, I will let you know what he says.

Blue_Runner 07-16-2008 10:12 AM

Tto add to what bradford said:

Not as much flare on the V21 IMO. Also the cuddy is bigger and of course it has the seat boxes integrated with the inner liner which is nice. The built in bracket allows for the starboard insert on the front of the splashwell to give it a full transom feel. Also a one piece welded stainless steel bow rail. The sliding hatch over the cuddy slides forward more than some V20 models allowing better access for the anchor man. Same 60 gallon fuel tank.

They did not produce the V21 nearly as long as the V20 therefore there aren't many around. But there is a newer V21 that was made in 2004 which is a totally different hull and it sucks balls so nobody bought them.

The guy added pics of the boat for me. He told me that it was a dually but it is not. But it looks nice enough fom the pictures.

Thanks

phester 07-16-2008 07:02 PM

Does it have a trailer? Regardless, that boat looks nice in the pics. If it wasn't 900 miles away I'd be looking into that one!

kamikaze 07-16-2008 07:30 PM

Deshnet:

Interested in selling the powerhead/midsection for a reasonable price if you get it?

Kamikaze

deshet 07-16-2008 08:24 PM

make me an offer for the mid section and powerhead

There is no trailer with it.

Thanks

randlemanboater 07-17-2008 07:19 AM

You got a sweet deal on that!

You put that 140 4-stroke on there and a nice trailer, you'll have a $10K rig.

Of course, the Johnson Rod may just need lubrication to get the motor running again.

That's what I was thinking, Johnson rod funny a.

The block actually has hole in the side of it.

Thanks,

Blue_Runner 07-17-2008 08:41 AM

Technically it is a dually...just not in the same terminology we're used to when talking V20 talk. I take dually to mean dual console, which it is. The difference being it is a dual console with a cuddy rather than a walk-thru windshield (bowrider). JMO..............

deshet 07-17-2008 05:19 PM

Thanks Blue you clearing that up. I talked to the guy today he said several people have offered him more money for the boat but he is going to honor his word.

I just picked up a new aluminum trailer for it today.

Randlemanboater

Can you give me some true numbers for your 140 johnkuzi. What is your top speed and your cruising speed does it drop alot with your family on board. The owner of one of the 140's that I was thinking about buying discouraged me saying that he would not put it on anything over 18' boat. He removed it from a 22' Mako because it was slow. He said fully loaded 20 was pushing it. I did ask him what prop he was running and he did not know. But he said suzuki told him that was the best prop to use.

I am not a speed racer. But I would hate for the cruise to be under 20 fully loaded. I would like to cruise near 30. But I don't think a 140 can do that fully loaded.

Thanks

msbhammer 07-17-2008 10:45 PM

Well, did ya buy it. If not, I'll buy it.

My top speed is 40 MPH with 2 aboard and 20 gal fuel.

Top speed is 38 with 5 aboard, 40 gal fuel, coolers, fishing gear, and bimini top up.

It will limp along at 15 mph pulling the kids on tubes at around 2800 rpm getting around 4.5 mpg or cruise 20-28 mph @ 3500-4000 rpm at around 5 mpg.

I am running a 14x21pitch prop, It runs almost the same with a 14x19 pitch but the rpms are a little higher....a 14x20 may be the perfect prop for it.

Remember, 6200 rpm is the target at WOT for this motor so you have an extra 1000 rpm to play with over most 2 stroke motors.

I would bet that the combination of the Mako 22 being a bit heavier and maybe the guy running the wrong prop (you cant go by what the dealer tells you, my dealer gave me a 15 pitch prop to start, you have to test different props to get it right) is why the other guy had poor results.

Randleman is your prop a Johnson or Suzuki prop. The doing the install wants $200 for a used SS 21 but it has several nicks. I would like to start with some new or at least not damaged.

I have a new ss quicksilver typhoon prop part # QS6004x
The diameter is 14 and the pitch is 19 it is a 4 blade prop.
Do you think that it will work

Also if this prop will not work what size should be good on the V21 since it is a bit heavy. And I am a bit heavy then most 275lbs. and all of my friends are over 200 pounds

Thanks

Blue_Runner 08-12-2008 06:41 AM

Mine is 14 3/4 x 17 stainless and it is perfect IMO.
