It looks a little short, that don't look like a V21. Guess you'll have to settle with being back in the regular V-20 club, not that exclusive V-21 one. Looks PURTY though, we need MORE pics(don't forget the supermodels).

lumberslinger178 07-13-2008 05:04 PM

:nice:congrats willy call me and I'll help ya scrub it up:party:

chumbucket 07-13-2008 07:03 PM

Looks like the CEO is calling all her girlfriends bragging about how big it is.:fam: The boat too.

Whatcha doing with the G3?

randlemanboater 07-13-2008 07:31 PM

Congrats Brother!!!!

Now, about that bench seat......:sly:

willy 07-13-2008 09:16 PM

It is a 1992, bought from the original owner, did not fish hardly with it, just cruised in the Toms River and immediate Barnegat Bay area. He and his best friend bought one together. Original engine, approx 500 hrs. even compression within two pounds on all cylinders. Well maintained and very clean. Floors like a sidewalk and transom to match. Kept on a lift until the past two years when he sold his house and bought somewhere else and did not have a lift anymore.
His friends bench seat was bought from Wellcraft and it started falling apart after a few years so he went to a local marine welding shop and had them make a custom version with stainless bar stock, 3 1/2" by 3/4" thick and had custom cushions made for it.
Has two mooring covers, one for when the bimini is up and it needs some work on the plastic window part. The other is in pretty good shape and is for when the bimini is down.
Has three sided enclosure. It needs some zipper lub it looks like, but the plastic is in nice shape and looks serviceable.
Interior and cushions in the cuddy are like brand new, no stains rips or leaks from anywhere.
A couple of things I am going to address this winter.
1. it has the straight cable type steering which I don't like but works smooth and is in good shape.
2. you will notice it has no side wall rod boxes, first V20 I ever saw without them.
3. it needs some rod holders installed in the gunnels too.
4. I am going to put a nice hardtop on it and a bow pulpit and anchor hawse pipe.
5. has good working hummingbird fish finder and that is going to go, going to pick up a good gps/sonar for it. Not sure which one yet, still shopping.
6. Going to play around prop wise, it flys but the rpm max's out at 5000. The hole shot is great.
7. Has the higher floor and is dry as a bone inside, sea trialed in a heavy afternoon windy chop and she was sweet.

So tommorow going to Cape May with the family and when I come home going to go down in the Atlantic Highlands area and try to find the right slip or rack storage for her. The trailer actually is old but in very good condition, well lubed and has all new bearing etc. on her. She towed beautifully.

So here I am again had a big loss when I sold Old School and it has bothered me since that day. Sea trialed at least a dozen other very fine boats the past three months. Drove my wife crazy. She even told me to go buy a new boat last week. Then this one appeared thanks to a good friend of mine watching out for me.
Not bad, especially in this area $6200.00 , compared to the other V's I checked out, eight to be exact she is pristine.
Hopefully I get two or three good years out of the Yammi, then I will buy something new, but at least now I got a solid foundation to build on.

The beauty of no rod boxes is that you have a clean pallett to work with and not trying to find exact replacements for the crappy ones that Wellcraft used.
Nicely done willy.

Seacrets 07-14-2008 04:29 AM

Congrats Sir. May I suggest SSI rod pockets. You won't be dissapointed. From the looks of the pictures, you got a very good deal. Enjoy.

Bygracealone 07-15-2008 01:09 PM

Very happy for you Willy! Nice lookin' boat there. Very clean.

willy 07-17-2008 05:03 PM

Thanks guys for all the comments, much appreciated. Just got back from four days in Cape May with the CEO and family.
Phester the G3 is alive and doing well and I am keeping that sWeet thang. She is my fresh water fish killer and I use it here near my home on two fresh water impoundments and the delaware river.
The as yet unnamed V20 will be on post down in the Atlantic Highlands area of Raritan Bay and I will be looking starting tommorow for the spot.

Game plan is
1. New electronics for her, GPS/Sonar and VHF which she has none.
2. Find out what I need to do to have the bildge pump run on auto also, the owner has it on manual only. It is a fairly new pump.
3. Find out who to see and how much for a hard top, want one on this year if possible.
4. Full service of my own filters/decarb/lower unit and a new battery.

End of season
1. dual battery system, plenty of room but none in yet
2. If not enough rod storage with hard top then I will be investigating the best in wall rod storage for it too.
3.
get rid of passenger side lounge seat and put something there that will hold a good helm type seat and storage along with possibly a decent live well setup HELLO SKOOLS GET TO WORK

macojoe 07-17-2008 05:52 PM

I have 4 welded rod holders and to adjustable clamp on's giving me 6 on the top.
I have 4 in the gunnles, 4 across the back, and 3 on the rail for the bow guys.
Thats 17 rod holders!! With 4 on the side walls I use for boat hook, gaff, ect... ect...

willy 07-17-2008 08:24 PM

if you are looking for good quality fiberglass side rod pockets and other parts like that for a boat you guys got any recommendations source wise?

Like the fiberglass box seats type of thing also.

And stainless gunnel mount rod holders, as this boat only has two of the original wellcraft plastic types?

And was there ever a consensus on what degree gunnel mount we can get in there as far as angle they can face out?

whale 07-17-2008 09:11 PM

Willy, how about "New School"???

:nice:

Here's a good article about bilge installs....

Monkey Butler 07-17-2008 09:57 PM

Nice.... Good luck with her....

That bench seat is the ballz. Does it clip into the original plates in the deck?

Steve P.

willy 07-17-2008 10:30 PM

Thanks Kev that might come in handy tommorow, and Monkey it does pin into the factory plates

reelapeelin 07-18-2008 02:43 AM

Big congratulations there Old Geezer!!...nice lookin' V ya got...as far as rod holders, just fed ex all those rods right on down here and ya won't have to worry 'bout 'em anymore...bet that Yams gonna run forever...

I really like the dash set up on that model...looks like plenty room for one of the Lowrance 7" screen combos (I know ya hate 'em, MJ...)

...and I know ya gonna put a new stereo of some kind in there...

as far as rpms...what's Yam say she sposed to red line at?...try a 17 pitch...

willy 07-18-2008 08:08 AM

I think it is a 17 on there, but will be investigating you old coot, thanks

Willy nice boat! Have fun decking her out. Be careful of the Nortin Snaggers you use. Billy Mac

willy 07-18-2008 10:14 PM

Thanks Mac, no Norton Snaggers on her, going to do it right.

Well a couple of updates, I am the new renter of a rack storage spot at Twin Lights Marina, right on the entrance to Raritan Bay across from Sandy Hook, he is charging me 1500 for the balance of the season, which for you southern gents is a good price in this area for the best prime location and a rack setup.

And I just ordered my gps/sonar it is a Lowrance LCX-28C HD, seven inch screen and 30gig hard drive and the HD means it is pre-loaded with all the Navionics Gold charts. Plus inland lakes though she won't be seeing them with the G Spot here.
Should arrive on Monday, maybe tuesday. Hopefully the install goes without hitch and I can bring the boat down on tuesday afternoon. Picking up all the tune up stuff for the engine tommorow and will have her ready by monday.

I have decided to hold off on the hard top for now. I want one but I got a functional three sided enclosure/bimini now and cannot justify spending the money until I need to. Going to hold off on the rod boxes now too, unless something extraordinary shows up, going to make that and a few other things a winter project.
I do need to put in some gunwhale rod holders though and will be looking for them right away.
Don't want to do much right now but feel that V hull under me out on the Hook and fishing thru the Shrewsbury Rocks. She is sweet and she deserves to be fished for the first time in her life and I am just the guy to git her done.

whale 07-18-2008 10:37 PM

Willy, with the Lowrance unit I highly suggest you invest in the EP-60R fuel flow sensor. For $50 (currently at Cabela's) you will get gallons per hour and miles per gallon when networked to the new unit. You can display this right on the new unit or get a digital gauge (LMF-200 or LMF-400) but for the money the gauge is not really needed. You can display all you need right on the LCX-28C without the standalone gauge. I have the EP-60R with an adaptor connected to the GPS that came with Old School (Lowrance) and I love it. The install is a breeze and connected to the gps you will get mpg in addition to gph. You can't beat it for the price!

steplift20 07-19-2008 07:34 AM

i dont like that shirt, it would look better on me
nice v20[dont you just love them]
