Great post, gulf side??

Naterj14 07-07-2008 02:09 PM

No Atlantic, Palm Beach County

cterrebonne 07-07-2008 02:31 PM

you ate those kings?

tsubaki 07-07-2008 02:41 PM

ct, they'll be allright barring children and prego's for a couple of meals.
Was wondering if near Miami based on the pics.
Thought the mangroves would dictate the gulf side but ain't been there but a couple of times.

Excellent pics and reports Naterj. The only problem I see with your whole post is....we need to get you outfitted in a V20 tee-shirt.

CTBONE - Kings aren't bad, especially that size. If I could catch kings all day long I'd rather have the snakes than those big smokers.

last year we caught a couple over 30 pounds and they were kinda funky. like you said i bet the smaller ones are better.

Blue_Runner 07-07-2008 03:30 PM

Yeah, we live bait for the big boyz and pull small spoons and lures for the snakes. I know what you mean by "funky."

Naterj14 07-07-2008 03:32 PM

We usually smoke them and have heard there nasty fried but when you cut the red line out and fry them up there pretty good. Oh yea last weekend to we saw a nice bull and cow running the weed line came up looked at our squid we threw at them and then they were back off running the weeds.

Blue_Runner 07-07-2008 03:53 PM

Fried some small ones up last year and my wife, who hates "fishy" stuff, loved it. Kids did too.

Small ones - good
Big ones - ok to nasty

Blue_Runner 07-07-2008 03:54 PM

What did you catch those kings on?

Those mahi should hit the same lure or bait. Keep on chasing them, you'll eventually trick one (or two).

Where you buy the rollin papers for dem dat size?
If you got any info for smokin them, post in the recipies.

Have you tried citrus wood smoking?

randlemanboater 07-07-2008 04:31 PM

Good report NaterJ!!!!

You remind me of a young guy I used to know, wasted his whole summer boatin and fishin.
:hi:

BigDaddy 07-07-2008 06:48 PM

Nice job Nater.
Is that West Palm in the background? One more question, how you riggin your tackle for the bonitas?

Naterj14 07-07-2008 07:25 PM

Yea thats singer island, the kings and bonitas were hit on flat line dead sardines.

I don't know the process....never smoked a fish in my life. Couldn't find the right size papers I guess.:head:

No really, never smoked a fish period. I want to though. Somebody needs to add the recipe.
