Any of you pansies own fishing rods?

Looks like only about 5 of our members have posted an actual fishing report this year, and we're into June now?

Whats up with all you slackers? Can;'t believe that NOBODy else is fishing at all?

Fess up boys...:bat:

Stillrunning 06-02-2008 02:08 PM

I have only been out once this year and caught a few taug. With work, weather, out of town, 18 month old daughter, etc.... etc.... I have used up every excuse in the books so now I don't have anymore to use. So I'll be hitting the water for the next two weekends fishing for cobia, flounder, croaker and anything else that will hit my line.

Where is Greenbackville Va. and where do you fish most of the time?

Airslot 06-02-2008 02:31 PM

G'Backville is near the MD/VA line on the seaside. I fish the Chesapeake, the coastal bays, and the nearby coastal waters as often as fuel money permits.:nice:

Thanks for reminding me air. Here we go:
5/16-5/18 --> Went to Cocdrie and fished Timbalier Bay and Islands.
Saturday--> 68 Speckled trout; a few channel mullets; and a few sheapshead
Sunday--> ~20 Trout; 1 Flounder
5/24-5/25--> Fished Lake Borgne and the Rigolets.
Saturday--> 3 Specks; 3 Redfish (slow day)
5/31-6/1--> Went to Cocodrie with a friend who had been there since Fiday night. He fished Saturday and we fished with him on Sunday
Total 2-day catch --> ~120 Specks; a few channel mullets; 1 shepshead; & many throw-back white trout!

Airslot 06-02-2008 03:49 PM

Thanks SeaDucer, I was beginning to wonder what had happened around here. These were designed as fish boats and all:beer:

tsubaki 06-02-2008 04:51 PM

Every excuse in the book has showed up since January, now 2 weeks left to get ready for Florida bream fishing. Guess that will be my second trip this year.:bat:

turbinedoctor 06-02-2008 07:24 PM

I got a pic to show off but I cant log into my gallery. It's my catch from the 2nd annual black drum tourney. We were in 2nd place for a short while with it.

Soon as I can I will post the pic.

Turbo, check out my Memorial Day weekend report...

Seacrets 06-03-2008 05:05 PM

Looks like alot of trailer queens or works in progress. I fish at least three times a week with good success with specs, reds, flounder and spanish. Being a guide, I better catch fish or my customer base will go to crap. Prior to my 238 Carolina Skiff I owned an 85 V in 1993 and an 86 in 2004. You really have to use a V to really appreciate their versatility. Reason I stayed with this site after my V's, a great bunch of guys.

tsubaki 06-03-2008 05:25 PM

I'm beginning to wonder about the trailer queen aspect.

There is no reason around here not to fish from late January to early December, hunting has got to go (unless V related), working on the house, automoblies and other peoples crap to.

C YENSEN 06-04-2008 07:26 AM

due to working 2 jobs, i have only been out once and nothing to show for it:sad:

randlemanboater 06-04-2008 07:39 AM

I have to confess......I just haven't found time to fish yet.....I am so ashamed.

Blue_Runner 06-04-2008 09:42 AM

Hey Air, great post...that is a question I've pondered for about the last month - why isn't anybody fishing??

Me - I'm taking the day off on Friday the 13th (I know) so I will leave on Thursday evening to go to Surfside SC and fish out of Murrells Inlet. My plan is to leave the boat down there at a storage facility. This way, I can trailer down the 14ft Mckeecraft CC and have both the big and little boat available for my long-weekend fishing adventures. I'm going to invest in a couple of crab traps which I will deploy on Friday mornings, check and or re-bait until Sunday. Another thing on my list is flounder gigs, flounder lights and a pair of deep cycle batteries.

Actually I will be taking pretty much every other Friday off work for the rest of the year so here's how I see it playing out in my mind:

Thursday nights - arrive around 9 pm after 3.5 hr drive with Mckee Craft in tow (approx. 15 gallons of fuel in the Yukon)

Fridays - I may be solo some of these due to friends having
to work, if so I will either fish the V near shore or the Mckee in the creeks and jetties for flatties and such. I will also bait and deploy the crab traps.
(fuel burn in Mckee is negligable - she sips)

Friday evenings - Eat fresh fish from the day's catch. Friends arrive and we prep the V for Saturday and possibly squeeze in some flounder gigging depending on the tides. Re-fuel Mckee if necessary.

Saturdays - up before sunrise with visions of king mackeral, cobia, spades, bsb, and stray dolphin dancing in our heads. Run out anywhere b/t 15 - 30 miles to find weedlines and/or live bottom spots. Stop on way in to unload and re-bait the crab trap. Pull boat, refuel and tidy up (approx 20 - 30+ gallons of fuel in the V)

Saturday evening - Eat fresh fish and crab from the day's catch. BS with friends about who did what wrong and how funny it was. Maybe gig flounder - again depending on tides and how worn out we are. (fuel burn in Mckee is negligable)

Sunday morning - up early and fish for a few hours either in Mckee or V, then pull the crab traps and head back to clean up and put the V back in storage. Head home 3.5 hrs w/ mckee craft in tow (approx 15 gallons of fuel in the Yukon)

So in summary, I can do all of this for about 70 gallons of fuel which is < $300.
P.S. I planned my Friday's off to coincide with payday
P.S.S. I hope Mrs. Blue doesn't see this or I might get :nut:
P.S.S.S. This plan is subject to change at any time - esp if Mrs. Blue finds out.

randlemanboater 06-04-2008 05:12 PM

I wonder how Mrs. Blue sees it?......

BR leaves work Thursday, pick up kids from day care.

Friday, keep kids to save daycare $, do laundry, dishes, dusting.

Saturday, cut grass.

Sunday, do something w/ Mrs. Blue.

Mrs. Blue: "Honey, I love you being off Fridays, it works out great!"

Blue_Runner 06-05-2008 08:42 AM

RB - that was a good one!

Here's my only saving grace:

1) Mrs. Blue is a school teacher so she will have a 2 month vacation this summer. Lucky dawg! Also since she started teaching the kids ride a shuttle to the high school and stay there for free until Mrs. Blue gets off work. I'm loving no day care payment!!
2) I already do MOST of the dishes, laundry and dusting.
3) Grass will be cut on Tuesday evening after work.
4) Do something w/ Mrs. Blue on Sunday? Sure thing....hope her and the kids don't mind pulling a crab pot or two.......
:sun:

I think if I can talk her into going with me, then bring back a bunch of delicious seafood (even if I have to buy it LOL) it should help my case a little. We'll see.

Airslot 06-05-2008 09:40 AM

Hey...You've got to start with a PLAN. Even if it has to be modified on the fly, I think you've layed out a very nice plan to start with.

Here's to you DAWG

I would love to fish, but it is kinda hard when my V is in Delaware and
I am in Japan. Hopefully when I get back, these minny chumbuckets will help my catch:

chumbucket 06-06-2008 05:54 AM

Mini Whaaaaaaat?:oh:
I'm not admitting to anything. I haven't been to Japan in many years. And there's no way you can prove I fathered those. So you can forget about any child support payments there parishht.:bat:

Spent a whole day in the ER at the local hospital. Mrs Chumbucket had a bad reaction to some chemical fumes at her work and had to be taken by ambulance yesterday afternoon. They finally put her in a room at 2:00 AM and I went home then. She's back home now resting.:oh:

willy 06-07-2008 07:41 PM

Give missus cb my best.

chumbucket 06-07-2008 07:52 PM

Thanks willy. I will. She gave us a pretty good scare for a while yesterday.

parishht 06-07-2008 09:03 PM

Hope everything turns out ok.

Blue_Runner 06-09-2008 09:29 AM

OMG Chum, sorry to hear about Mrs. Chum's accident. She should file a lawsuit and never work again!!

Hopefully she is all better now.

chumbucket 06-09-2008 11:31 AM

We'll know more tomorrow after she sees her own doctor.

Sean 06-09-2008 01:33 PM

CB, Best wishes to the Mrs's
