Yea She Floats!!

Well they long awaited day has come!! Got out of work today and headed down to the boat ramp with friends Kenny and CB.
All the hard work has payed off! Te boat ran great all systems A OK, wash down and all were great.
I filled her up with 70 gals gas I guess I had 40 in it, I knew there was some buthad no idea what, so $285 later and 1 1/2 gals of oil we were off.
The day was perfect!! Could not have asked for better! Had one problem with the boat. Coukd smell gas all day but nothing was leaking in the bildge, all hoses are new, all double clamped, so CB says when you had the floor open and cleaned the tank and all new hoses did you put new gasket on the sender?? I said nope just used the old rubber one, well Ipulled the deck plate and sure enough was wet around the sender. So i will get new gasket tomorrow!!

Other then that we were set! Brought a rod with us but I just wanted to see if all worked and get use to the new eletronics, Kenny says weres the bait?? I said there is none LOL!!
I took a 1/2 oz lima bean whit bucktail jig and gave to him, he jiged up 5 great looking KNOT head Sea Bass!!Great!
Headed back to the ramp were the new power winch pulled that baby right up!

Next week we start fiashing!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are a few pics, but I forgot the fish pi'cs, :bat::bat::bat:

Good news from the north there MJ. I'm sure you'll be happy with her this year in the snot. Hopefully we won't be hearing about you testing out the bilge pumps anytime soon. You ought send that old EVINRUDE to me though and I'll send you mine. Them older engines are getting hard to find, and get the best milage of any of the big JOHNNY-RUDES. I looked but couldn't find a good small bore block so I just got my block back today. Hopefully next week once I get caught up I'll get mine back in the water and get some break-in time on her.

macojoe 05-31-2008 01:48 AM

Yea I hope I am not testing the pumps either!!

Yea I also like my motor!! The one at home had all mid 90's for compression when I got it, but the eletrical was messed up and all the paint peeling off, I just did not have the no how or time to go thru it so I got another.
But I would love to have her all built up and ready to go, if something was to go wrong with mine!! Love to send it to you for a rehab.

Hope you are in the water soon!! The season is short enough around here that I feel like I have already missed to much of it.

THEFERMANATOR 05-31-2008 01:52 AM

Next time we need pictures of enough blood on deck to warrant a crime scene investigation and a heart attack on LS's part.

macojoe 05-31-2008 02:01 AM

Soon my friend soon!! Comercial starts for me on the tenth!

phester 05-31-2008 05:27 AM

nice looking rig MJ . Looks like a lot of fishing room. Is she a walk-around or is the deck closed at the bow.....can't tell in the pics....all the same , good w/ her.

Nice pics MJ. I was surprised to see all the boats in the water, then I realized that it's June. Florida will do that to you. I really miss the 30 seconds of spring, and summer up there. Send the Ox down here next fall and I'll put some Grouper blood on her for you.

macojoe 06-01-2008 09:40 AM

Thanks willy!!

:you::haha:

Not to thorough!! The gas leak was at the sending unit, I got a new gasket and went to put on today, I guess we never put the old gasket on when we cleaned the tank! :head: I don't even know were it is?? OOPS!!

But the new gasket is all installed now and all should be well!!

THEFERMANATOR 06-01-2008 10:43 PM

It could always be worse, he could have a 300 V8 hanging back there:cen:. Them things use almost enough gas to implode a fuel tank.

macojoe 06-02-2008 12:59 PM

I have no use for a Fuel system, I could careless, it uses what it uses and thats it!! I have 110 gal of gas and I only use 20 gal on most trips and I am sure this isn't going to be that much worse. And I refill after each trip so I won't be running out in the near futurer!

THEFERMANATOR 06-02-2008 02:56 PM

I'm adding one in so I can find the sweet spot since my average run will be 30 miles one way. For people making any kind of long runs it could save you the purchase cost of it pretty quick. I know I found that I could run my 140 alot faster than I thought and still have the same milage.

At $4.00 a gallon, it will take even less time to pay for itself.

macojoe 06-02-2008 07:22 PM

22 MPH at 4200 rpm's was were it sounded and rode perfect, thats my sweet spot as far as I am concerned. I do about 30 or 40 miles round trip run's most of the time.

besides thats what I have friends for, hey pay the gas! :hide:
