Gas prices going up....
I just heard on the news down here that gas prices are going to be over $5/gallon within two weeks. What the H????????
|
As long as we keep using it, they are gonna keep raising the price.
|
Yep what he said! Everyone complaining, but I have cars passing me on the highway like I am standing still, and thats at 70 mph !
Its going to go $5 but by next week I don't think so?? |
Yeah lets just stop using gas, and stop fishing, and stop boating, and stop driving, and stop hunting, and stop working...hey, wait this just might work out. We could even put sails on our V20s. HMMMM...
|
I'm going to buy a conversion kit to run my outboard on water,
then I have all the fuel I need right under the hull. |
Now that's what I'm talkin about!

what would you suggest randle. i have it easy. i'm 2 blocks from the train station and dont even burn 2 gallons a week commuting. my wife is about 2.5 miles from work and doesnt work in the summer. the beach is 100 yards from my house and thats where she and the kids spend most of their summer. the boat is (will be) docked about 2 miles from my house. my parents are about 2 miles from me. AND. . . . . i'm still struggling financially. we spend about $500. a week or more in groceries and these kids are getting hungrier every day. not to mention these new york taxes. but i hafta fish and boat and beach and cruise. so there is no easy answer. |
Yes there is. Did you not read parishht's input? lol
|
As promised, I spent Saturday at the dock on maintenance and repairs, and listening to all the boats running up and down the ICW. I swear, one would never know that fuel prices were up from this time last year, judging by the number of boats out. I told my wife when I got home that I thought I was listening to the Indy 500 on radio!
Sunday and Monday were our days to spend on the water. Off we went, around the point of our little neighbor island and up into a nearby creek, away from the main channel and its compliment of cruisers, skiers, PWCs and assorted idiots. Dropped the hook, opened the cooler, went for a swim, and while the wife read I fished a bit. Blue skies, nice breeze. Not much biting, so I nodded off . . . Oh, yeah. Time to pull the anchor and head in. Tied up, checked the log: 5 miles round-trip. Monday we shoved off, wifey asks, "How's our fuel?" I replied, "Same as yesterday!" and off we went on the same 5-mile tour. Life Beez Good. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ilies/cool.gif |
There is no easy answer at all.
But there are little things we all can do....last month I decided that I would drive the speed limit all the time....I know, I know, I'm already supposed to do that to set an example, but I have always drove 7-8 mph over the limit on the highway. Well I have been getting 2 mpg better since I started doing this.....if everyone did this, then it would make a big difference in demand. Also, I can't help but notice that 90 percent of cars on the road during "rush" hour have ONE person in them, if just two people would share a ride, it would be a huge cut in demand. The big things (hydrogen fuel cell cars, electric plug in cars, ethanol made from SUGAR instead of corn) will have to come from big corporations and big government. Did you know that Brazil imports little or no oil because they use the most efficient crop to make ethanol for their fuel needs, but the government here is in the pockets of big business here so we keep trying to use one of the least efficient crops, corn. CTT, I know the feeling, I spend a lot more on groceries than I'd like to think about. All I can tell you is that if we keep doing nothing different, it aint gonna change any way but for the worse. Uh... but its no better down here in the south so yous guys stay up there in the north, ok. |
There are MANY things that could be done to cut our oil usage in HALF, yes HALF. Problem being there are to many politics in our our wonderful attorney driven society, and don't anybody understand politics better than an attorney under our current system. Heads need to roll to fix this problem, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Cost me 23 bucks to cut my yard Monday. :head:

bushes final hurah screwing us big time

sounds like you got it all taken care of Pipe........... referring to your weekend I mean
|
Yea Bush is to blame :you:
Real quick, here we go - demand for fuel in all its form has gone up over 60% the past three decades in spite of our more efficient use of it. We are currently, as per the US Energy Commission sitting on oil reserves bigger than any previously known in Alaska, and numerous locations within our territorial limits off shore. Along with being in direct competition with the USSR for huge reserves discovered in the polar regions to which they have all ready started to claim. Over the past thirty years in response to the energy demands the US Congress controlled the majority of the time by the democratic socialist party of the US. has either thru direct down votes and over regulation or when not in power thru the use of the courts along with the enviromental groups has prevented the oil companies from building any new refineries. Not one has been built. Not feaking one. That is why over the past thirty years those who use diesel fuel have paid premiums for their fuel even though it is substantially less refined than gasoline. And due to the popularity of diesel engines in all types of vehicles the past decade diesel now is much more expensive than gasoline. That is because the capacity to refine it has not been allowed to increase. And the oil companies demand for gasoline has has grown so much that they will not shift refining priorities to diesel. All over the world small diesels in trucks and cars dominate the landscape due to their longevity, their fuel effieciency and THE LOWER COST OF DIESEL FUEL. Due to the same wonderful sh!tbirds listed above, we have also not drilled for any new wells in the areas we have in the continental US. So therefore not only do we not have the capability to refine the oil but we also do not have any of our OWN oil to produce. We purchase it from all our wonderful allies around the world at a premium and for whatever they decide it is worth. To make matters worse the greatest nation in the world for the past thirty years has not made any substantial energy policy with the eye to scientific overcoming of the dependance on fossil fuel. A country that can put a man on the moon cannot come up with a alternative fuel vehicle to meet the demands of the population. we can however use our considerable intelligence(?) to regulate and stifle the automotive industry, the electonics industry, the energy based companies into abandoning the American work force to the Pushpa region of the world. We can use our Orwellian ability to regulate to keep vehicles available the world over that provide reliable powerful and extremely efficient economy to the peoples everywhere else for their work transportation recreation from entering the shores of the U.S due to the extra part per million CO2 they produce. See Democratic/Socialist/U.S Courts/Enviromental Waco Org.'s above And the greed of the Oil companies Automotive industry And Republican Politicians who are owned by them for not demanding the above mentioned vehicles in the U.S. If you think they are to blame and that is what you think I am saying you are quite wrong. There is only one group to blame in this country and that is the sheep that vote here. Those who vote because of one issue, whether religion, 2nd amendment, abortion, teachers union, auto workers union, government handouts, state workers pendions, etc. etc. ad nauseam. Because of these sheep our country is being manipulated by professional manipulators who use our passions for these issues and our beliefs to fragment us into groups to cater to. And to fool. Because we are not standing up as Americans with a strong voice and booting there dead arses out of office. We are to blame Shame on us |
Ok Willy, who do we vote for in this election?
I for one am regitered as no party affiliation, I TRY to read up as much as I can on candidates, but they are all crooks (Willy, arrest that man or woman) and we don't find out until they are in office. |
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
I'm voting for WILLY!!! And then after the election, I'm going to get a "Don't blame me, I voted for Willy" bumpersticker. |
There is no good answer I am afraid, we need a third party type candidate. The Barack situation will literally send this company into a downfall of epic size.
The McCain senario while better is no great shakes either. As a matter of fact the only reason a great many americans will vote for him is because of his valiant service to this country. And they are holding their noses while doing so because of the voting record since then. We actually need a common sense party. As of right now I am looking for an alternative candidate to vote for and am checking what is out there on the ballot from the small parties. I know all the arguments for not doing so but to be frank with you picking from two piles of **** should not be what I do the rest of my life. I want to be able to say I did something other than vote the same crap in again and again. We could also as a nation vote None of the Above Or boycott the elections period We just can't sit here like this anymore. It is literally destroying us from within. I am open to any suggestion at this point. Hell I am open to an insurrection at this point |
Willy, thank God for you! I absolutely, 200% agree with everything you just said. I think I'm going to be voting for 'ole Ron Paul. I don't agree with his views on our overseas investments, but his domestic policies are really good. I would have much rather preferred Mike Huckabee for Fairtax views. He actually won 26% of the Rep. vote in the NC primaries several weeks ago.
The only downside to NOT voting is that then the Demacratically controlled congress would be the ones deciding our next Pres. IT's TIME FOR A REVOLUTION!!!!!!!! TAKE UP YOUR ARMS, AND GO INTO THE STREETS IN FRONT OF YOUR LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS AND DEMAND CHANGE IN POLICY AND FAIR REPRESENTAION. THEN WE'LL TAKE IT TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND CAPITAL HILL. WE CAN NOT TAKE MUCH MORE!!!!! DON'T TRED ON ME! |
The thing that really pisses me off regarding elections is our vote doesn't really count for SH!T! The electoral college is the one who's votes really count. The general election is just smoke and mirrors dog and pony show to make us feel important. The electoral college is supposed to follow what the public wants, but when special interest groups fund the electoral college's members how can we expect to get a fair election of what the GENERAL public wants. Hence why we get all of these extremist individuals in office. People of true fortitude don't want to take the riducule of the public because they won't take responsibilty for there actions. Our society wants to point the finger and pass the buck, rather than accept our fate and fix it ourselves.
How many people in the general population accept respopnsibility for there actions anymore? How many people can make there own decisions and live with them? Until we correct our morrals and values, these POS are the ones who will be in control. Unfortunately the majority have become silent, and the minorities have taken over the general voice in this nation. I sure hope that video of OBAMA'S wife and reverand WRIGHT really exists, and surfaces come OCTOBER. |
BC, I need to say something, we are a nation of laws, taking up arms is only justified when it is in defense of yourself, your country or the people and constitution of this land.
We need mass marches, peaceful marches on the state and political capitols. We need to send a message that the current state of our union will not be tolerated by the people anymore. Think of the results of these types of rallies all over the world now think of the results of mass rallies not by a bunch of crazed immigrants demanding things that don't belong to them, not by religous zealots for one belief or another, not by union workers demanding their pay increases or their pension increases, not by anti this or anti that. Think of the results of the people of this country that never do that, us , the people that work every day and pay for everything this country does. The people who defend her, the people who built her demanding sweeping changes in the street. To be honest with you it would scare the bejeezus out of them and I guarantee you things would change mighty quick. You see there was a time in this nation when it was the "us" that stood up and forced changes rather than sit on our collective butts and let the fringe far left or fringe far right set the agenda for our nation. If and only if the people are trampled while assembling and communicating and the constitution is violated by the government and they become a police state is it time to exercise the rights you have from God, from the people and from what hopefully you have inside of you to remove forcefully those that would desecrate our land and constitution. That ability to do ( The 2nd Amendment ) exactly that is what goverments the world over have always feared, and it is the reason for the propaganda war against that right. |

Good points Willy, but do you not think the constitution is not being violated by the current laws our elected leaders have put in place? I seem to remember taxation without representation was the reason for the revolutionary war against England correct? Well, I believe we are at that point now. I have written countless letters and made the same number of telephone calls to all of my representatives about many issues over the years, and have not seen or gotten a response from any of them actually addressing the problems. It's always the same 'ole letter saying that "these issues need to be further investigated". We the People have no representation anymore. If you can tell me the last time the "people" made a stand and our government listened, I'll gladly agree with you. People march in huge numbers at our capital everyday, and nothing ever comes of it other than being a pain in the rear for politicians as they walk to work. They are beyond HAVING to listen to us. In their own minds they have no responsibilty to "Us". And that is our own faults because intelligent people don't exercise their priviledge to vote. The entire house of reps. can be completely voted out every two years. The ENTIRE house! But people are so stupid that they keep voting the same people back in year after year. They don't demand term limits for these positions. Every bill that goes through congress HAS to start in the House. And we have the ability to clean house EVERY TWO YEARS!! It might make a difference if we voted out even half of those idiots, but it will NEVER happen. People are too apathetic to do that.
The politicians are too good at the game now, and it is because we have allowed it. We made this problem, and the problem is we have not held those responsible to blame. We let them keep their jobs year after year until they die. They might as well be Supreme Court Justices. Marching may work for some things, but when we get into it as deep as we are, the only choice of action is to take action and cast off the oppresive tyrants that suppress the people's voice and force laws that govern all aspects of life. "DON"T TRED ON ME!" This was the reason for the civil war. So, to back up my point, our country has already gone to arms over the same issues....twice. Once against England over taxation, and once with ourselves for the overstepping of the federal government into our personal freedoms, and forcing laws on the people without proper representation. |
im voting for
NONE OF THE ABOVE |
BC I appreciate the frustration, the pain, believe me I do. But you are stating what the problem is and reiterating what I said. We don't have to march, use force or anything else besides pull a lever.
That is why for example I am ashamed of my home state the Peoples Republic of NJ. They are voting in people that are in a nut shell Marxist's. They vote them in over and over. They are actually quite ignorant, or basically socialists themselves at heart or are voting for the one issue that is their favorite and could care less about the affect. The majority in fact in this country are going that way, in one of those three basic groups. Just for a moment step back and look what is about to declare victory in the democratic/socialist party primary for President of the U.S.A. For his entire adult life in spite of what this countyr has offered him in way of freedoms education and oppurtunity he and his wife are ashamed of the US. They have assosiated with the lowest forms of life in our country, devout racists, publicly devout racists. Confirmed, admitted and unrepentent terrorists. Would not wear an American flag lapel, did not feel it was right. Hundreds of thousands of men that have fought and died for that flag, my father, your fathers and grandfathers. Can you imagine for a moment if a presidential candidate had said something like that, or assosiated with people like that and our fathers and grandfathers found out. My Sweet Lord he would have been tossed out on his ear with a good asswhuppin included and the party who promoted him would have been disgraced. Look at the democratic party now disgusting. How a thinking reasoning man or woman could identify themselves as Americans and associate themselves with what was once a great party but has now deterioated to a socialst organization and would dishonor every American by putting that piece of crap in possible position to be the commander and chief of the U.S.A is absolutely beyond my comprehension. The fact that there has not been a mass exodus from that party says a lot. You want to know who to blame I have seen the enemy and it is us. |
Two words:
TERM LIMITS. When I was a kid my parents were registered Democrats. They felt, as did many, that Democrats were looking out for the working man. Now, Democrats as well as Republicans, they're looking out for only themselves, specifically the perpetuation of their careers as politicians. It's all about re-election, which means it's about posturing themselves to the highest bidders, and accepting the bribes, er, contributions of lobbyists. Am I cynical, or just being realistic? Both, I think. But as long as we keep electing career politicians, we'll keep getting "the government we deserve." (Ben Franklin) |
I agree we are our own worst enemy. Our socialist government schools are training pod people. And these pod people are the perfect tool for politicians to stay in power. Everyone is so wrapped up in who's doing who in Hollywood and what Paris Hilton is doing, that no one has a clue to what the facts of this nation are. When I speak about taking up arms, I'm really joking, but I just want to make a point that our for-fathers have been to war over some of the exact issues we are dealing with right now. The real point is that over half the country is more apt to vote for the next American Idol than our commander-in-chief. The real power of the people lies with our house of representatives, and our ability to change them if they don't represent us. Why don't people care?!?!?!?
Term limits are also one way to go.... good luck with that though. |
