Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
This boat is sick! *It even has a full transom with a bracket. *Man, I wonder what he wants; he won't even give an asking price. I can't see him asking for less than $15K * :-/ * :'( What do you guys think?
Here's another pic for you guys: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...5DCP_38871.jpg |

Did you open the floor and replace all the flotation? What size Fuel Tank at present? |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
I see why you are a God here, Reel. Excellent questions! (newbie sucking up) Man, what a price! I guess you have to factor in all the work and that Etec HO!! :o I sure would look good in this one but the $$... :-[
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Fire, the $$$$ ain't that bad....you were getting ready to pay the same amount for a Carolina Skiff? Much more boat fer sure. New power, presumably with 7 year Warranty, heck what more could ya ask for....at least while we are spending YOUR money ;)
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
i would trade my house for that thing :o
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Ya know, Air, I can't argue with your logic one bit! *I am interested in what level "restoration" this boat has received. *
...trade yer house? *Damm, where would you live? haha edit: HEY, I'm a junior member now! |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Is it just me, or does this boat look like it's had bottom paint in the past?
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Well, it looks like a new transom and console. I could be wrong, but I don;t think that is a factory 78 console? The bow rail is a low profile "Striper" rail that was standard back in 78'. From the few details I can see in the pics, I'd say it was fairly thourough and the resto.
Heck, its got new power, which means at least a new wiring harness for the motor and new gauges for the ETEC. Seems to me that it would have been foolish not to rewire the boat at that time. My big concern would be the choice of the "HO". Thats the big block Etec and weighs 100#'s more the the regular 200. I'd have to see her in the water, where the water line is in relation to the scuppers. |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
has anyone asked why he is selling :-/
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Air: I agree with ya 100% on the HO choice and weight. Slinger made the right choice IMHO with the small block. (Man, I can't wait for a performance report from him on that one!)
Still would like to know if it was a "liner-off" restoration on this boat...new fuel tank, etc, etc. |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
I don't know... I love our V's, and I like this one a lot, but if I had $20k to spend for a CC, this one would be high on the list...
Ready to fish 1996 Wellcraft 238 CCF T-Top VHF, Garmin 198C Chartplotter/Sonar, AM/FM with CD player, Outriggers, lighted livewell under leaning post, 1 Fishbox in floor and 2 in bow platform, Porta Pottie under console, Auto pilot, trim tabs 225 Merc OB, saltwater washdown, freshwater shower on stern 2004 tandum axle Alum trailer with disc brakes. $20,000 http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...01DSCN0591.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...educed0592.jpg |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
let me say this i dont have to sell and really doesnt matter if i do or not. the restore was 100% deck off this is the orginal console and the tank is still in the console. the weight for the ho was 80 lbs more and i still use the scruptors as normal guys i paid 16000.00 for the engine it has less than 10 hrs on it

Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Bygrace, How do these boats compare to the V's as far as dry ride and rough water performance?
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
MP,
I really don't know how they compare on ride; I've never ridden either one. Sorry. Some of the more experienced guys might be able to tell us... |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
I've fished a few times on the 238CCF, which I think is what BGA posted. I'll keep my V. IT has 3' of Euro trnasom, 2' of pulpit, and a few other things that are just to "Frilly". The boat I fish on is also equiped w/ a 250 johnson and, while reliable, is one thirsty SOB. I don't fish with him much, mostly because I can't afford to share the fuel cost. :(
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Thanks Air, my local search continues ;)
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
j_pickett: I saw that you discussed the possibility of selling the boat without the engine on NCWaterman. If so, what would be your asking price?
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
call me on my cell and we will discuss that. 252-531-5431
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Pickett: tried twice, is your cell phone turned on? Thanks.

!00% deck off...OK, but did you replace all or add to the flotation?... Tank is still in the console...OK, but what tank?...is fuel tank in floor? or are you sayin' the console tank IS the fuel tank?...either way, can you tell me what size tank it is?...Thank you... |
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
ON THIS MODEL V-20 THE TANK WAS IN THE CONSOLE AND THERE IS WHERE I LEFT IT . I DIDNOT ADD ANY FLOATION. IT IS A 65 GALLON TANK
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
Pickett, Did you replace the 29 year old wooden stringers? Also are there any pics of the restore?
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
...so the CC's had the fuel tanks under the console as opposed to under the deck?
|
Re: 1978 Wellcraft v-20 cc
YES IT WAS UNDER THE CONSOLE NOT UNDER DECK. I HAD A BOAT MANUFACTURE CHECK MY STINGERS AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM.
