 Gauge replacement

I want to replace the gauges on my 1986 V20 dashboard this winter. There is a speedometer (doesn't work), tachometer, battery volt indicator, and gas.
	Any suggestions???? |

 Re: Gauge replacement

The two most popular fuel metering systems are by Floscan and Navman.

 Re: Gauge replacement

		I have a NAVMAN 5500 Chartplotter/gps/fuel flow meter

A little bit Oz, it's a blowin' about 35 and building, she is moving fast. We have about an hour or less till the west gets here. Looks like Wilma is gonna exit the coast a little south of us.

 Re: Gauge replacement

I also have a Lowrance combo chart plotter and GPS. I am looking at a similar in dash mount. In terms of placement of gauges and spacing, is there anything you would change? Anything you would do different?
How much time did it take? Looks great! |

 Re: Gauge replacement

Boater, when I got this boat the dash was a REAL MESS, so had to do something...several years back, but don't remember it taking long...routing the edges really finishes it well...only thing I want to add is a fuel-flow meter... ;)...and won't be long before I'll have to replace old Lowrance 350...becoming a real dinosaur... ;) :)...
At the time I could not find 1/4'' Starboard...although the 1/2'' hasn't presented any problems, woulda used thinner stuff if available... |

 Re: Gauge replacement

Overtons price for a set of gauges is a better deal than West/BoatUS and maybe BoatersWorld.
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/over...0745&fcat= This other site also has some good deals on all parts, not just gauges. FYI, the site doesn't work w/ Mozilla, only IE. http://www.surplusunlimited.com |

 Re: Gauge replacement

Hey Oz, I like my 5500, easy to install ,easy to use display can be a little busy if you turn on every bell and whistle. It has a bunch of cool stuff that I probably won'y use much. I just got the C Map monster chip - detailed charts from jacksonville to the bahamas, cuba and a bunch of the west coast. Less detailed stuff all the way up the Intracoastal Waterway.

 Re: Gauge replacement

Here is the deal on West Marine, They have 2 policies that are a boat owners friend.
	1. UNCONDITIONAL MONEY BACK IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU BOUGHT. 2. THEY WILL PRICE MATCH ANYONE BUT EBAY Find your best price, take it to West, you get the advantage of the best price you can find, and local support and your money back no questions asked if you dont like it. *Yes, I do work there, but it's only part time and we have people coming in all the time with overtons and defender prices, we always match them and make sure your happy....try them. save the bucks. |
