Rebuilding transom
Having my transom redone and I am thinking of putting a bracket on. Has anyone converted from and outboard transom to a closed in transom and if you have can you post some pics and advantages? Did anyone add a storage compartment there?

Re: Rebuilding transom
Gee I wonder if anyone has ever done this before?? ::)
Go to the gallery and look at mine, you shall see all!! I kepted the I/O engin cover and added a 25 Gal gas tank in there. I was out voted by the guys that fish with me, they love to cut bait and sit on the cover to jig, so I still have it. |
Re: Rebuilding transom
MJ, I think he means an outboard model V20 with the cut out converted to a full transom with a bracket.

I have not stepped into the digital camera age. We still have not developed the Christmas pictures yet.

Re: Rebuilding transom
Hey Ax, I'm considering doing the same thing. My only question is what did they do about the cap? Did they fab a new piece for the transom or did they just cut the transom section out and blend the sides into the transom?

Re: Rebuilding transom
Axe...you did a major conversion several of us have considered...the guy who did the work...has he got a digital camera?...you're friend the elctronics/computer guru; what's-his-name?...has he got a digital camera?... ???...
Man, we gots ta see some PICS!! ;D ;D ;D... |
Re: Rebuilding transom
He did not cut the whole cap he just cut the back side out and evened it out to the edges. I used AC exterior plywood. I ended up with an extra 5 gallons of resin.
