Bottom Paint Removal

I need some advise again. I want to remove the 10 plus layers of bottom paint it is so old and dried out it rubs off blue in on your hand, after a day in saltwater yesterday the paint left the driveway blue after a powerwash. I was reading about a product called Removall 610. Has anybody ever used it, and if so how well did it work.......Thanks in advance..........Ted

Re: Bottom Paint Removal

I'd be anxious to hear what that's all about. my boat was formerly moored/slipped a couple of seasons, the bottom paint isn't that thick, maybe 2 layers, but it is worn out to where you can see the white hull in some places....all in all it makes the whole boat look a bit shabby. [it looks great in the water] I REFUSE to get on my back w/ any sort of sander, let alone by hand, and sand it down...it's just not happenin'

I tried several things. *The more expensive, the less it worked.
Here's the ticket: *BIX (important to get the orange can) from Home Depot. *15 bucks for a gallon with spray bottle. * It will turn that old paint to soft butter in 15 minutes. *Good stuff.

Re: Bottom Paint Removal

yeah it did but i took a little of the stripper and put it on a wet towel and then wiped it and haze was gone. you may could brush it on thick in small areas and then pressure wash it right off.

Skools: Hey, did you get any big fishies during the Big Rock?On another note what kind of power are you going to put on the 25 sportsman. As you know the 240 coastal is pretty much the old 25 sportsman with live wells and washdowns added but its still the basic hull. I was looking at the wiring diagram today and i think its also the same. I feel for you guys with the bottom paint issue, what a mess...and it will never look the same regardless of how much you work on it ..Frank

We have a local boat dealer who is closing next month and I bought 4 nearly new poppits for 150.00 next I need to get the boat off the trailer and told us to help ourselfs to the 8x8 blocks so I grabbed 8 of them. The way he told us to block and poppit the boat I don't think it will be a big job. I also got the stripper today also.....see what happens.......

Hey Blu,

How did that paint stripper work for you? I used it on my V, but it didn't work too well. I wonder if I got a bad batch of the stuff???
