who all has replaced there Rubrail

Ok i'm looking at new rubrails for the 21 project and the V20 as well. What length have you used on your V20's? I measured the one off my 21 project and it's 47.5 ft. I called my neighbor from Parker boats. he said that a new kit for their 21's are 51 ft total. and is $111.50 complete kit how's that sound to you guys on price as well?

I'm not the authority on rub rails but $111 doesn't sound bad if that includes the channel and the insert.

I need a new insert for mine. Channel is fine. I don't know how to make sure a new insert is going to fit aside from ordering a 1ft piece and testing it first?? I don't even know if you can do that.

The problem is I don't know what brand the previous owner went with when he replaced it.

Thats a good price!! My friend payed that for a 13' whaler!!

BR, cut a small piece of yours and do a search on the net, you will see pictures of all the shapes, and just match it up.

Thats what we did for the whaler.

I like to replace mine some day, but it is all Aluminum and solid ;)

Skools, it's a helluva deal if it's the right rub-rail looks wise...on that boat, I'd lean toward black w/black insert...

I had mine off last year ... removed all half-a$$ed rivets ::) and put 'er back on w/ 147 SS screws (that reattached the cap and put the RR back...)...the rope insert on mine had gotten nasty, so I found new rope that would fit and put it back in there... ;) ...

I like this one for your boat...more than yer talkin' about, but...

That's a good deal, but before you buy it measure with a tape and be sure. I helped install this one and rubrails are definitely a 2 man job. Wait for a warm day when the rubber is soft.

Parker only use's black on black so i'm thinking about buying 2 sets and put one on the V20 as well. 51 ft is plenty for them.

Here's a pic of the 07 Parker 21 SE so here's the same rubrail

Re: who all has replaced there Rubrail

i put a black rub rail simular to the one on the Parker on my 17 Mitchell last year, even with my company discount( don't tell any one) I paid $150 for enough rub rail to do my boat, add in stainless machine screws( i thru bolted it as it was a rolled edge boat), nylock nuts and washers, I had close to $200 in the job before I was done. I did it by myself, but I will never attempt it solo again, it showed when it was finished.

For the rubber insert if you heat up a big pot of water and add liquid dish detergent. Let the insert soak for a few min. and it will slide in nice and easy. I'd keep the pot and the rail in it as you do the job. Also try and cram in as much as you can before cutting it off as it will shrink over time.

Thanks, I use to install door gaurds back when not all cars had them and thats where I learned that trick. It works with just about anything rubber that has to slide into an insert.

On the rub rail we did on the whaler the insert did just that shrink!! He is about 2" short now, but he doesn't care, so neither do I!!
