Re: BELLOWS.
its not that hard, there are some tricks to it, and getting a long 1/4" drive extension and a 5/16 swivel socket will hellp a lot, you will need a hinge pin tool( what year model ?), bellows adhsive(contact cement), and if your trim senders are bad, this is a good time to replace them, might as well replace the shift cable and water hose while you're at it(don't forget to check the gimbal bearing). Its not easy either, deffinately not for the mechanically declined. Would probably take you a day if you have not corrosion problems

Re: BELLOWS.
I did my shifting bellows and it was a pain, but not to bad.
Then the next year I got a leak in the shaft bellows and decided to replace all, What a mistake that was! after fighting for what was forever I took it to a shop to get done!! Another reason I hate I/O!! >:( |
Re: BELLOWS.
if you can get you hand on a factory manual, it explains it pretty good, its easier to go ahead and replace everything while your at it rather than one broke item at a time. Flat rate for just a driveshaft bellows used to be 3.5 hours, in my prime I could do it in 1 1/2

Re: BELLOWS.
Its tight in there but not difficult. Youll get it done

Re: BELLOWS.
one other thing, use a little mercury power tune when you slide the shift bellows on the shift cable, its allmost as slick as boiled okra
