Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
I'd first like to thank Stinky and Skools for their informative input.
This the original plastic transom cap. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/P1010002.jpg This is what we found under it. *Wood was solid where we could get to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/P1010001.jpg The Mac Attack is getting a new motor so we decided to rap the cap in glass before we had it mounted. *The 150 Force is removed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...P1010008-1.jpg My brother in law Dan, and partner on the new E-Tec, grinds out the old filler that has cracked through the years. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/P1010011.jpg Puddy has been removed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/P1010012.jpg Cap was then sanded to remove the gel coat. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/P1010003.jpg Holes were drilled in the top of the cap and all the wood that could be gotten to was treated with CPES. *CPES is an epoxy sealer like get rot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/12.jpg The opening was then filled with 1/4 inch chopped glass and epoxy resin to fill the void. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/14.jpg This was then sanded to a rounded shape as Stinky and Skools have told us. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/21.jpg I then refilled the small holes or any openings with a paste made from talc like powder and epoxy resin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/25.jpg The cap was sanded and then wrapped with glass tape. *I used two layers of tape because it is not too thick. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/36.jpg I then retaped the cap and applied a tinted talc paste with a paint brush. *The texture was acheived by using a plastic scouring pad. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/43.jpg Tape was removed before the texture coating was completely cured. *I'm pretty much satisfied with the project. *Time will tell! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Machockey/46.jpg |

Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
He explained it before, it is a rock that someone found and painted it.
I have an issue with that though, cause it looks like an indian corn crushing pestel / masher or a skinning tool for making leather. |

Slot...ya know, I think I'm noticin' a trend here...after each E-Tec install these guys drop off the radar for a few days ... w/no break-in required, i think they're out runnin' around at WOT, whooopin' it up for several days, tryin' to get the $hit-eattin' grin off their lips ... 8) ... it's what I'd do ;D ;D ;D ... |
Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
I don't know REEL, but I'm not sure that Lumber has even put the key in his yet? My theory is that once you hand an Etec, one of two things happen...
1. You just stand around staring, maybe even humping on your Etec all day. (Picture Stinky here) 2. Once you hang that Etec, the supermodels just swarm too you, then you have no time or energy to use it. Whatcha think? ;D |
Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
Slot, ya might have somethin' there ... in Slinger's case, he hasn't turned the key, cause he hasn't squared it w/ the "she" ... yeah, she saw warranty papers, but that ones still cookin' ;) ...
That leaves Mac n' Jack ... and I can easily see both out humpin' their new E-Tecs...although Mac would pull it behind a large tree...Jack would park by the curb on a busy day ;) ... ;D ;D ;D ... I'd do it like Jack 8) ... |
Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
Beautiful job, Mac, and an A-1 Excellent post.
We're not-so-patiently awaiting more pics and a new engine report! |
Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!

Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
I get the boat back Monday evening. *You will get pictures along with the same video format as my Force 150 Lake Test. *I'm working the weekend so I told the guy no hurry. *The eyes are starting to bite. When is the June fishing tournament June? *Billy Mac *;D
Reel I'm bashful it would be a large Oak tree. No pictures of the install, only after photos. I've got to work so I can pay for my share. |
Re: Tinted Textured Transom Cap!
