Nice work Tim. What's that boat behind you with the stern view? Looks like a V20 but hard to tell. When you coming back east? I need someone to make a small center console. ;) ;D

Got the whole thing glassed together!! 3 layers of 1708 tape w/epoxy from the inside (laid it down one handed inside the bracket w/o Looking . . . using the force). Swim platform will never come off. It's almost ready to paint . . . just a lot of sanding prep left and it's getting bolted on !!!! wooo hooo!!

Yeah . . . Hammer call in a favor (Davis, CA - Yolo County) and get my $392 back for driving without wearing a seat belt. :)

I start this weekend :) I have the materials already. Should be done in about 6 weeks. It won't take long to layup once the mold is done.

Holy sweet mother of $392 for a seatbelt violation....Damn, California must need the money :o

bigshrimpin 03-08-2007 02:29 AM

Re: Making a bracket

It was $92, but I didn't pay within 21 days . . . so I got spanked with a $300 fine. That's what happens when you're a slacker.

msbhammer 03-08-2007 02:43 AM

Re: Making a bracket

I was wondering the same thing, but figured you had that full mask on, drinking a beer and then decided to Flee from the police. ;D ;D ;D

Re: Making a bracket

I did all the work up until yesterday and let me tell you . . . I could get used to other people doing my work ;)

Just kidding . . . Jorge is a sanding machine!! He's the hardest worker I've ever met in my life. He's done a few jobs for my buddy chuck. Chuck had him go crazy on my bracket yesterday for a few hours . . . he did a very very nice job with the MUD for round 1.

I'm pretty excited . . . in the other pics you can't get a good idea how large it really is . . . But with Jorge next to bracket . . . it really looks HUGE.

msbhammer 03-09-2007 09:20 PM

Re: Making a bracket

It does look huge. Whats the set back on her, 36 "

parishht 03-10-2007 10:30 AM

Re: Making a bracket

I think Jorge is afraid you will send him back to Mexico. :-X :-X :-X ;) ;)

Just kidding, he is doing a great job for you and
yes you can get used to people doing work for you.
I am still on a 20 lb weight restriction, so I have to get people to do my heavy work.

Me too, I try never to eat more than 20 pounds of food a day.

macojoe 03-10-2007 09:46 PM

Re: Making a bracket

Whats the weight of that thing going to be?? Alum one that I have is 125#

Re: Making a bracket

Thats major fine BS!! Awesome work man!!! 8)

bigshrimpin 03-11-2007 05:35 AM

Re: Making a bracket

MJ - It's close to 100lbs . . . I'm going to hang it up soon and weigh the bracket. If my math is correct . . . the bracket will provide roughly 400lbs of positive flotation.

macojoe 03-11-2007 11:01 AM

Re: Making a bracket

sound good!! I wonder what mine has for flotation??

How do you do the math on that??

pikfish 03-11-2007 01:57 PM

Re: Making a bracket

you can calculate the volume figure, 1 cubic foot = 7.48 US gals. @8.25 lb per gal. or...If it is easy to drain, you could fill it with water one gal at a time and measure its displacement.

bigshrimpin 03-11-2007 06:03 PM

Re: Making a bracket

I just calculated the volume of the bracket in cubic feet
then multiplied by 62.4lb

and subtracted the weight of the the bracket.
(not sure if I should be using the submerged weight 100 x .33 = 33lbs) but it works out to be around 400lbs.

Re: Making a bracket

I cheated and went to Stainless Marine site and they say I have 315 pounds of flotation. ;)

msbhammer 03-12-2007 01:43 AM

Re: Making a bracket

LOL, Cheating is ok M.J., it still gets the job done. ;D

bigshrimpin 03-19-2007 03:22 AM

Re: Making a bracket

I got the bracket primed this weekend! Just gotta remove the old motor, plug the hole, sand, paint, bolt on, rig, and go!! Only a few weeks till Salmon Season. :)

Looking good there SHRIMP. ;)

Your pics. just woke me up, as i sit here in the boat yard waiting for 6 am to roll around. ;D

reelapeelin 03-19-2007 12:01 PM

Re: Making a bracket

Do ya install the bracket on the transom, then hang the motor, THEN add the flotation?...

macojoe 03-19-2007 02:04 PM

Re: Making a bracket

hang the bracket first, then add motor, the air in the bracket is the floation, there is nothing to add.
