Re: ROD BOXES

I think that I used four across the top and bottom and one center each end for a total of 10 each side. I want to say that they were #8 x 3/4, maybe #10, and I used GE Silicone II for the sealant.

Another way to ''clean up" excess silicone is don't clean it up at all...wait for it to cure and slice away w/ a razor...less of a mess... ;) :D ...

Let's see some pics of those new boxes goin' in... ;D ...

Re: ROD BOXES

I had to do some very minor trimming and the cost was about $180 for the pair from FPmarine about two year ago. I'll see if I can find the link.

i have the fp marine sight but the ones on his sight recommended for the v20 are not square (rectangular). they look like i need to do alot of cutting.

I can't find my old post. There was only a little cutting. I can't remeber if I had to cut along the bottom the length of the box, or along the forward end to make more lenght. Either way it was easy to do.

Re: ROD BOXES

CHARLIE:

THE NEW ONES HE RECOMENDS FOR OUR V-20'S ARE THE ONES I BOUGHT FROM HIM, AFTER OUR CONVERSATION HE ORDERED SOME AND ADVERTISE THEM IN HIS SITE, THE ARE ABOUT 67" LONG AND YES, THEY ARE RECTANGULAR. IN MY CASE (1978 V-20) MY ORIGINALS WERE TRAPEZOIDAL, THEREFORE THE OVERALL LENGTH WAS ABOUT 70" SO I HAD TO DO A LOT OF CUTTING AND ON TOP OF THAT I WAS LEFT WITH A HOLE IN ONE SIDE I HAVE TO COVER. WHAT I DID IS INSTALLED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER INSERT NEXT TO IT, (PORT SIDE) AND I WILL MOUNT MY "EPIRB" (EMERGENCY POSITION INDICATOR RADIO BEACON" IN THE OTHER SIDE (STARBOARD) THAT WAY I WILL COVER THESE HOLES.

I'LL POST SOME PICS WHEN I HAVE A CHANCE, SHOWING EVERY STEP.

OH, I FORGOT, THE ROD HOLDERS: THE OLD ROD BOXES WERE DEEP ENOUGH SO THE ROD HOLDER WILL PROTUDE THRU A HOLE ON TOP OF THE ROD BOX, HOWEVER THESE ARE NO THAT DEEP SO I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO PUT THE ROD HOLDERS BACK, WHICH I HAVEN'T DONE YET.
