House Hunting

Going out to look at a house today. Sussex county Delaware is Courty living, but has exploded in the last ten years. The Lewes area itself, you cant touch a home, 3 bedroom with a garage for no less then three hundred thousand. I find this house just 13 miles away from Lewes. X-mas tree farm borders the back yard and a corn field across the street. On the market for a quick sale of twohundred thousand. Might need some quick cash.... :-[ :-[ :-[ if you know what I mean.

Re: House Hunting

i am partly responsible for the housing boom around here, sorry.

the company i work for is a land development company that specializes in designing and engineering new subdivisions in Sussex County. I design the new communities and then engineer the roads, sewer systems, and stormwater ponds.

trust me though, i don't make enough money to live in the communities I design. I had a hard time buying a townhouse in Berlin for $231,000.

Re: House Hunting

Damm, that is cheap, but hell, it would be cheaper if me, the wife and two dogs just moved in with you and free loaded. Just think of all the bonding time we would have. ;D ;D ;D

Re: House Hunting

Keep hearing about forclosure sales. Might go that way as well. Just always figured that realators who have cash in hand always get them. Good Luck with it.

HAMMER: YOU OUGTH TO SEE DOWN HERE IN MIAMI,
I BOUGTH MY HOUSE (SEE A PIC OF MY BACK YARD UNDER REPAIR/ROD BOXES) 2 YEARS AGO FOR 245K AND THEY ALREADY OFFER ME 500K. THE PROBLEM IS IF I SELL, THE ONE NEXT DOOR IS GONNA COST ME 500K.
I THOUGHT OF MOVING UP NORTH FL. BUT THERE IS NOT CUBAN COFFEE UP THERE.

THE PROBLEM HERE IS TAXES AND INSURANCE, THEY'VE DOUBLED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS.

Starter homes here in the Boston area are no less that $340,000.

Re: House Hunting

Mike, that looks like a nice house for the $$.
Don't sell the boat! Try not to anyways. I fell into that trap buying a second home for my daughter. It's very hard to play catch up with boats. :'(
Hopefully next year will be my year. :-[

Re: House Hunting

I'M IN MIAMI,FL SUNSHINE CAPITAL, THAT'S WHY WE PAY SO MUCH IN TAXES, I PAY FOR A HOUSE VALUED IN $202,000 (ASSESED VALUE BY DADE COUNTY) $4,500.00
AND SINCE MY HOUSE IS IN A LAKE, I HAVE TO PAY A SPECIAL COAST GUARD TAX (TO MAINTAIN THE WATERWAYS). HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE WENT FROM $2,500.00 TO $4,000.00 A YEAR, WHILE IN THE REST OF FLORIDA WENT UP 20-30% AS IF HURRICANES ONLY WOULD HIT MIAMI.

BUT HEY!!! THAT'S THE PRICE FOR LIVING IN PARADISE!!!

CY, IF YOU'RE A LANDSCAPE ENGINEER, COME DOWN YOU'LL MAKE MONEY DOWN HERE!!!!

The market kills the working class guy >:( >:(
Just back from the realator, that house I was interested in is now under contract. That bites the big one, but I was also told the house was a rental and the inside needed alot of work. So it looks like I will be keeping the V-20 a little longer. ;D ;D

Re: House Hunting

HAMMER, I am familiar with the area, been looking for about five years now.
That looks like a deal if you can jump on it.

Be very carefull with foreclosures, make sure you have a COMPLETE title search doen going in.
Here in Pennsylvania, the farm house next to mine went at foreclosure.
I spoke with the people who bought it, turns out after they moved in debts had to be paid and I don't know how it
worked, but they had to pay thousands of dolars to get the title cleared.

Anyway, I still have your cell number, maybe I'll give you a call this weekend
and I can introduce you to my real estate investor friend
who is a manager of a title company.
She can give you all kinds of information.
