News of the Weird
(I heard this on the radio driving to work this AM. *Fort Mitchell is in Kentucky, very near where I grew up. *Hopefully this guy is not related to Stinky, as he clearly has violent tendencies and is stupid to boot.)
It's rare that a criminal sets up a video camera to record his own crime, then leaves the videotape behind for police. But that's what Fort Mitchell police said a man wearing only a thong and carrying a knife did last week when he broke into a woman's apartment and tried to attack her as she slept. This weekend, police say they followed the video burglar's own recorded evidence right to his mother's home in Norwood, Ohio, where they arrested Rodney McMillen, 36, of Covington, on one count of first-degree burglary. Fort Mitchell Police Chief Steve Hensley said the bizarre burglary began unfolding early Sept. 20 at the Mitchel's Park Apartments on Grandview Drive. About 3 a.m., Hensley said a woman in her 50s told police she was awakened by a man with a knife, who was clad only in thong underwear. Although the woman was alone, she managed to fight off her attacker, who fled into a stand of trees bordering the apartment complex, Hensley said. Officers who investigated found a video camera the man had left at the scene that was "in fact, activated, set up and set in place so that he could capture the events of the assault as they took place," Hensley said. "We recovered the tape ... and it shows him basically walking into her bedroom. There's never any shot of his face, but you can very clearly see the knife as he approaches and stands next to the victim's bed." There were, however, faces on the tape - those of McMillen's family members, whose images were still recorded on the end of the tape, Hensley said. Investigators were soon able to identify the individuals in those previously recorded images and begin questioning some of them. Investigators suspect McMillen knew police were on his trail and figure that's why he falsely reported he was attacked by a burglar in Norwood Thursday. Police believe he fabricated that incident in case he was later questioned about injuries that he suffered in the struggle with the Fort Mitchell woman. "She did an absolutely outstanding job of defending herself, which may well be the reason she's here today," said Hensley of the woman, whom police refuse to identify. "I think her adrenaline kicked in when she recognized she was fighting for her life. Just through sheer determination and fear, she was able to defend herself against a fairly healthy male intruder and not only get him away from her, but she continued fighting with him as he exited her apartment. I'm sure that's why he left the video camera." Police said there is no evidence to suggest the two knew each other and detectives still do not know why the Fort Mitchell woman was targeted. Hensley said the unusual nature of the crime prompted investigators to ask the FBI whether there have been any similar cases. Federal authorities said they knew of none. Hensley is hoping that any other agencies or individuals who know of similar incidents will contact him. Hensley said McMillen had no local convictions for serious crimes.. He is in the Hamilton County Justice Center in Cincinnati on $50,000 bond, awaiting extradition to Kentucky. "This is a very, very bizarre case, to say the least," Hensley said. Re: News of the Weird
I was here workin on my truck!! I have pics to prove it!! ;D

Re: News of the Weird
i'll have to see the video. if it was a real knife, i pretty sure it wasn't you. but if it was a toy knife, and the guy left his camera cause he had his hands full with her shoes... i may be a little concerned!

Re: News of the Weird

not mechanical, it had a few body blemishes when I bought it. I was fixin them and preparing it for painting. She will be silver in another couple weeks. 8) And on that note here is my review on the Dodge so far. I have owned Chevys ALL my life. *My dad has an older (95') Dodge Ram and I always made fun of him for it untill now. This is my first Dodge, but it wont be my last!! Im never goin GM again!! Chevys are built too puney! Even though this is a Dakota and not a Ram it is leagues above even a fullsize GM IMO. So far I have towed several different boats, a friends camper, hauled topsoil and even a tractor with a frontend loader and 4 implements on the trailer. (Est# around 5500lbs.) It done all that well and without draggin the hitch on the asphalt like a POS "Z" would have done!!! I pulled a friends 28' camper with it well. He usually tows it with his "Z71" and it looks like some Latino Lowrider movie gone south. ::) Not with the Dodge hooked to it, Even a "small" Dodge. 8) Another friend of mine has an *06 Ram 4x4. We wont even get into how bada$$ that thing is. :D My new theory is as follows: You want a soft cushy ride and people to say "hey is that a 4X4?"...Buy a Chebbie. You want a TRUCK to haul, tow, and get dirty...get a Ford or Dodge. * 8) I want my next truck to be a 3/4 ton Ram with the big "C" under da hood. *;) *sits at desh awaiting MJ's fast and perhaps slightly PMS"ish" GM endorsing response"* :D http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com...odge20Logo.jpg |
Re: News of the Weird
I won't be endorsing GM (or anything else for that matter), but give it a few more years and you'll be saying the same things about Dodge. ::) :-X
|
Re: News of the Weird
The things I love and are endorsing are immediate noticeable things in the designs, not reliability. The GMs *hardly ever let me down mechanically either. I hope the Dodge is as dependable as they were!! I juust know for what I need it for the Dodge is certainly going to serve my needs better is all. I can tell from just crawling around underneath that everything on the truck is way heavier duty by comparison.
I havent had but a matter of weeks pretty much. If in the end I feel diferently Ill say so...Im not that prideful. I am not commited to Mopar after such a short period of time, thats for sure!! Either way, I dont think Ive ever had one truck for more than two or so consecutive years, so I hope I get rid of it before any real problems occur. *;) |
Re: News of the Weird
yeah, he wears panties! if you wanna talk heavy duty half tons, nothing beats the nissan. i just gotta buy american. even if the titan is made here in MS. its still a jap product. i drive gmc. a little heavier duty than a chevy.
|
Re: News of the Weird
I think those Titans are bad too!! Wish I could afford one! :P
|
Re: News of the Weird
I will say I love Chevy!! and it these new ones were they dropped the ball!
They make the Chevy to light duty and low to the ground now!! Ford and dodge parked next to a Chevy look like the Chevy is a toy! But!!!!! Chevy is more dependable then both of the toghter!! Looks better then both IMO!! Better on gas then any dodge any day!! The only reason I can pull so much weight with my Z71 is I have 2500 3/4 ton springs and cranked the T bars to make everything, 2" higher, tight and strong! I tow the boat and a 30' foot camper with no problems! and it sits right were it should be!! But I still feel that the front is soft even after the T bars are cranked to the max! Also the Factory brakes are a bit crappy also. And the cab could be better sound prof But I have to say I love the truck and will buy another Chevy in a min.! See Stinky, you were wrong and can tell it like it is ;) |
Re: News of the Weird
Well done MJ. 8)

Re: News of the Weird
got 130,000 miles on my 97 gmc z71. been pulling around anywhere from 5000 to 12000 pounds at least a couple times a week since i bought her new. 1 radiator, 1 powersteering hose, and oh yeah, brakes every 6 months or so! trucks been good to me. she does squat pretty good when loaded but, doesn't hurt the ride or scrape. i got a 2" lift on it. i tryed *air bags couple years ago but they blew out first week. thought about a helper spring but l like the ride.
i say ford and dodge make a good product too. just a matter of preference. cept with a ford when you do have a prob, get out ur checkbook. those things are HARD to work on. i bought two 250 powerstroke diesels for my company in 06. wanted to keep the miles off my gmc. felt like she was getting old and i didn't wanna tear her up.bought a used 04 with 40k, lost the tranny second week. traded it for a 05 with 35k lost the tranny second week. next truck will be a duramax! |
Re: News of the Weird
I bought a 98 Ford F150 and thw cab and ride were great!!
But after needing Ball joints Manifold and a host of other problems I traded it after just 1 year!! I bought my chevy and have never looked back!! If I could have taken the ford height, quiet cab, and Chevy drive train I might have had a nice truck! Quote:

Re: News of the Weird
or just buy a 2500 lol that's what i'm currently looking for is either a 250 or 350 Ford or Dodge Diesel 4x4. But my Tahow doesn't squat at all but it is a diesel with heavy suspention.
Racer stay away from Chevy diesels they are JUNK trust me i've got one, which it does have 220,000 miles on it and still gets 21 mpg everyday but they will cost you a ton more to keep up. Their diesels are built by ISUZU. Fuel milage and trans are only good thing in them. My trans has never been rebuilt or had the fluid changed. I learned to never change fluid in an Automatic trans with a couple others. Every trans i ever change fluid in came apart less than 3000 miles later. the fluid looks as good as it did when new and still smells clean. But buy Dodge diesels that Cummings will out last all our trucks put together. i had a 99 dodge cummings and wish i had never sold it. |
Re: News of the Weird
And stay away from the 6.0 Ford diesels, they have so many problems they are killing the owners, I have always loved the 7.3 and if I had a few more thousand would have bought the 6.0 like my friends have done. God was looking after me, three friends, three 6.0's two blown motors, one out of warranty and the third has been in the shop every other month since new. Meanwhile my little Super Duty with 5.4 V8 just keeps on keeping on. I change oil and thats it.
|
Re: News of the Weird
yeah my uncle is a diesel mech, and said run from the 6.0 that they had real problems breaking the cranks.
|
Re: News of the Weird
My best friend has the 7.3 in the pre super duty 3/4 ton 250 4x4 and has 230,000 plus on it. Never done nothing but replace the ball joints in it this year and change tires and oil.
I've got to tell you I think they all make a good truck and each has there problems at one time or another. When I was shopping before I bought my Super Duty 5.4 I drove the Chevy 2500 4x4 with the duramax engine and allison trans. If I had the money that would be the truck I have today. Most fabulous truck I have ever driven period. And Skools the duramaxes are made by Izuzu not the previous GM diesels. Whole different animal. The Izuzu commercial diesel engine has been one of the most durable engines ever produced and they mated it to a Allison Trans built special for it. As much as I love the Cummins, the early ones were to****!n loud. And Dodge did not build a trans capable of handling the torque so it died on a regular basis, establishing a cottage industry building a dodge trans capable of handling that monster. Now, actually for the past couple of years with the common rail technology the Cummins has been transformed and is a great engine, Dodge is building the trans to handle it. The people I know who work on the newer Dodge diesels say the only thing they get in there now is regular maintanence, no warranty repairs at all, says a lot I think. Ford is rumored to be coming out with a twin turbo update to the 6.0. The mechanics are hoping they dump the International 6.0 all together and do something else, there has been so many problems with the Ford version of this block that they are actually tired of working on them and hearing the grief :o |
Re: News of the Weird
hate to tell you Willy but the old Crappy 6.5 Diesel is an Isuzu too. The 6.5 and 6.6 are very very close to one another main difference is the heads.
|
Re: News of the Weird
Early gm diesels were not Izuzu, so I'm not sure when they started using them Skools.
One thing to keep in mind is that the short blocks for the Ford 6.0's are made by International, and International is not having any problems with the trucks they put their engines in. It's after Ford adds all the rest and electronics and pollution crap along with turbo systems and computers that the engines are getting screwed up. I would suspect that would be the same for the GM/Isuzu situation. Have you been in that GM 2500 4x4 with the DuraMax. Wow what a truck. And according to one of the guys in my Bird Hunting Club who is now on his third Dodge Cummins 2500 he uses for his construction buisness and for hunting trips etc the new 06 common rail Cummins he has is phenomenol |
Re: News of the Weird
yeah know a couple people with 6.6's and they have had some issues with computer crap on them so i want to stay away from that due to that's all mine has had wrong is GM's computer added crap. i wish mine were reg old mech diesel. The Ford 6.0 are breaking cranks due to high turbo boost the Chevy 6.6 are have a module issue with towing a load they cut out to 20 mph only it's a pump issue and Cummings just nothing better to say but WOW. I just wish Dodge would *put the Allison behind that Cummings. then with their Dana 80 front and rear ends wow. All the 6.2 6.5 and 6.6 Chevys are built by Isuzu though. Nick named the Million Mile motors but only if you can keep the electrical crap working lol.

Re: News of the Weird
not the current body style dodge but, the body style before that... remember how cool they looked when they came out? then the new style came out and look how ugly the old dodge is now. all the old dodges, imo, are ugly. but, were cool when they came out. same with the towncar. or is it just me?
