GUNS OF LEWES

I see no windtalkers here today. *;D
Well, I guess I'll start blowing some wind a bit. *;D
A few of the big guns in Lewes at the park that use to be the Fort Miles Army base. Guns were in place to shoot at subs laying mines in the Bay.

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

Fort Miles was also a prison camp for prisoners of war. German prisoners were put to work around town. Trust me, nothing that to hard. Not as hard as our guys had in the German camps. At the end of the war "WW-2", a german sub surrendered in Lewes. The sub was kept and now on display I think in IL.

The big gun were inside of concrete bunkers covered by the sand dunes. They still have half a dozen underground bunkers in the park, but are sealed up.

Yo Airslot, yeah, I spent the day looking out over the ocean. It was pretty flat out there. Tons of boats, but nobody caught anything.

i have a digital camera but i dont want to leave it on the boat i think that would wreck it faster than putting it in boiling water.

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

Keep it in the camera case when not using it. What about the camera in your cell phone. ;D

It was beautuful out there today. Fishing wasn't great though. Spent five hours along the Bay Bridge Tunnel. We caught 1 striper. That's it. I got a pic and soon as I can figure out what I am doing wrong with posting pics I will send it along. Got some beautiful pics of the Bay as well. Went out with a freind on his Sea Ray (21ft)with two of our daughters. It was a Good Bonding day!

i went to the beach first and saw it was a great day to be on the bay so i took pictures and used up all the space on my camera so i left it home otherwise i would have taken it on the boat with me but hope you like these ones.

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

Not to sure on it, but with my phone, I can email the picture to my email address and down load it from there and save it to photobucket.com. Or buy an extra plug in from your phone to your computer to download the pics.
No more excuses, get out and get the V wet with you in it. Hope to be out myself in another week maybe. ;)

i am afrade today was the last day until january i took it out for the last time before i started the dash but to keep you happy i will post pictures of the progress of the project ok with you. ;D ;D ;D

msbhammer 11-27-2006 02:54 AM

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

Yeah, post pictures of the new dash, who's doing the work ?, you replacing all the guages and switches ?
Replacing that dash itself. Alot of guys installed new dashes as well, just by going overtop of the old one with 1/4 starboard. It makes it look much cleaner.
I replaced my wiring and guages, but didnt do the dash. I wish I did, but I would have been lost rewiring all the guages over. I simply replaced one guage at a time, marking each wire where it went.

fishbonejr 11-27-2006 03:02 AM

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

what i am doing is i have taken EVERYTHING OUT out of the boat and am giving her a total makeover i have 3/4" black starboard to start fresh with the dash new gauges and new swithches all lighted never had lighted dash before always shined a flash light on it. i am redoing the deck new rod boxes i am going to flush mount the vhf gps and xm radio i will have a hard wired control for the radio and new compass. then i will most likly put a new electrical system in as well as a new prop then i will fix anything else that is wrong with the boat i am having the local mechinics shop do the work they are called NORFOLK MARINE and i now the guy personally before he started fixing my boat so i now he is fair and wont sell me any thing i dont need. i think this is a preety invasive restoration. :o :o

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

" At the end of the war "WW-2", a german sub surrendered in Lewes".

Hammer, I wish you were right about the sub being on display but Maybe not?;

U-858 was originally docked near Fort Miles, Delaware, where the crew were held, and then she was taken up to the Philadelphia Naval Yard. She was also the first German warship to surrender to U.S. forces.
Fate> Surrendered at Delaware, USA, on 14 May 1945. Scuttled at the end of 1947 after being used for torpedo trials near New England.

Re: GUNS OF LEWES

Version wants to make you upload to there site, then email them back to yourself, as they charge you money for every pic you send!!

I have Cingular and they allow you to do what you want!!

I sent reel the software, and they would not let him use the function!

I just plug my phone in my computer and transfer my pic or address book or what ever! And hell thats the way it should be! We bought the phone cause it took pic, we payed for the service and the software!!
