Thanks, MJ ... it's a 7 mp Pentax Optio W 20 ... perfect for a boat; it's waterproof to 3.5 meters (that'll be me snorkling in the pool gettin' underwater bikini shots ;) ) ... it's USER-FRIENDLY 8) ... controls actually make some sense and has large print on a large screeen, so I kinda like this one ... ;D ...

Good choice on that waterproof camera! I was flyfishing a creek in CO a couple years ago. Whie crossing the knee deep creek, I slipped, had camera in my vest...well, no more camera :'(

Watch out for others wantin' to use it :o ... they'll have it off somewhere doin' frivolous stuff like weddings and the like, just when you wanna snap a pic of your boat ;) ...

Like w/ most DigCams, the built in memory is pretty small ... so along w/ the camera, Santa got me a 512 mb card ... haven't installed yet as it needs to be configured to this camera (which will probably take about 2 seconds, but I just haven't done it yet) ...

Nice pix.

I don't know about your camera, but when I put my mem card into
my Kodak easy share, the camera did all the work itself for configuration.
The only thing I had to do was set the camera storage option to auto
so the camera would use both internal and mem card.

Thanks Paris ...I bet mine's as simple as that, just gotta get back to it ;) ... it's just that gettin' used to new stuff can be a ''pain-in-the-neck'' and I KNOW you know 'bout those!! ;) ...

Isn't it interesting when a couple of old codgers go high tech ;D
Thank God I have my 14 year old son here to help when it arrives, oh and I got the 1gig memory card as part of a package deal.

Re: New Camera Trial

I got my camera so long ago that it did not have any memory, so adding the card wasn't anything cause thats all it has.

Its Kodak and has been an great camera!! Been droped, banged, wet and still takes great pic's for a 2 mp

But it is starting to show its age and thats why I am looking for new. I hope the new Kodak's are just as strong??

But I have looked up this one and it seems real nice also!

Re: New Camera Trial

I have been high tech for a long time.
My grandfather said look at the funny papers to see the future and
my mom and dad, especially mom, believed in that whole heartedly.
She bought us one of the first TI computers to play with.
I have been keeping current ever since and I push my kids to keep current as well.

Re: New Camera Trial

To be honest I have been a serious photographer for a long time. Have some nice Nikon 35mm cameras and just stopped shooting large format a couple of years ago.
Never liked the digital because of the quality of the shots. But the past three years there have been big quality improvements. So I decided to get myself a small digital for point and shoot stuff and learn the digital work flow for storing photos and using photoshop. Once I have that down I will get my dream camera, a nikon D200 10.5mp.
I was going to sell my nikon F100 and nikon FM3A but nikon has stopped producing them, so they have gone up in value considerably, especially the FM3A. Going to hold on to them I think.
By time I'm ready late this year the D200 should come down in price a good chunk, already has come down some
