Camp Pubah Florida
Here is a recap from today:
Got the boat in the water about 9:30 AM with 5 dozen live shrimp in the livewell. We went to Sebastian Inlet and shot outside and ran to one of favorite bait holes hoping to get some "greenies". Nuthin', nada, zip. Not even any birds working. We went back into the river and went to the flats south of the inlet. The guy at the tackle shop said it might be productive 'cause the water was kinda cold ( 66 degrees ) and the fish would be shallow. We about 2 miles of grass beds, Willy got one grouper, undersized. But it got the skunk out of the boat for the day. We went to fish a point on the peninsula and found out that you cant run a boat with 15" draft in 12 " of water. Me and Reel did our best African Queen imitation. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice029.jpg After a few minutes of pushing the boat of the flats we decided to run south down the river and fish the canals and mangroves. We got flagged down just after we got in the ICW. A 35' boat had a 25' Proline in tow, and the Proline had a jetski in tow. Come to find out the Jetski pilot launched the Jetski INTO the Proline. Not into the side, BUT INSIDE. He broke the engine cowling, wiped out the fuel system, slammed into the leaning post WITH THE JETSKI. Looked like the kid also broke his hip. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice031.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice033.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice034.jpg The big boat had too much draft to get the Proline to the ramp where the ambulance was waiting, so we took over and delivered them to the ramp. We took off after that and headed about 12 miles south and fished some of the creeks and cuts with little luck. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice035.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...indmice036.jpg *But the boat is still hooked up to the truck, full of gas, tackle is on board and the battery charger is on the trolling motor batteries ao we are heading out at "0" dark thirty to try again |

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
The camera is really taking awesome pictures!!
If you keep reel from the water his farts won't chase the fish away!! You will get them tomorrow!! |
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
What ya can't see in the pix above, the starboard side of that Verado is completly SMASHED in...destroyed his fuel system...but that jet-skier really messed up; himself and others...the jet-ski bounced off the side of the Verado and into the back of the leaning post...all were lucky no worse injuries...

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
man, people are just as stupid down there as they are up here.
fishin with my pops a few years ago, a drunkin jackass had her 9 year old daughter on the back of one and slammed right into the atlantic beach bridge. in we went to save the girl and almost left the moron in the water. |
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Love the pics boys, especially the one of you two "pushin"......I've been there too. ;D

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Great report, I think we all have run out of water at one time or another. ;) ;D
|
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Man that's some crazy stuff. The boy on the ski looks pretty banged up. Doesn't look like he moved a lick between those 2 pics. How the heck could that have happened? Sounds like somebody was not paying attention BIG time!
Good report snaggers - looks fishy. TIP: The fish are easier to catch when you are INSIDE the boat fishing and not OUTSIDE pushing! Take it from me - I know! |
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
So did you boys catch some fish today or did you catch one of those elusive "jetskiers" that I here are jumping into boats ??? :P
|
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Y'all may have run shy on water, but I'll admit to having to abandon ship and retrieve my vessel at high tide, and even then it was a challenge. ;D Now that was a good day.

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
where the hell do you find those things MJ?
|
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Was the boat towing the Proline a Criusers Yacht? If it was, that was Capt Chip at the helm, he was bringing that boat back up to SC for us, I talked to his brother yesterday and he was telling me about the jetski wreck. They saw it happen.

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Chip and crew arrived here last night, haven't talked to him yet, but what a small world! He's a great guy and a super Capt, he runs the water taxi that goes from the Charleston Marintine Center to Patriots Point. I do some work on their twin 150 Yamahas from time to time
|
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Assumin' it was them and I'm thinkin' it was, they did a good thing helpin' the kid out...Chip stayed at the helm and the guy who tossed the rope definately acknowledged the Shem Creek reference ;) ... hope I see 'em again...
|
Re: Camp Pubah Florida
they hang out at Salty Mikes from time to time, see them all the time in the morning getting breakfast at the resturant upstairs.........The smell of bacon is coming from there right now, might have to push a few jobs back an hour to make time

There is a theory that there are only 500 people in the whole world, the rest is just made up. Thats why you can go thousands of miles away from home and run into someone you know. |

Re: Camp Pubah Florida
Well guys got back from Franco's yesterday, been playing catch up here so this is the first chance I had to post.
This is Camp Puhbah, we roughed it for a few days ;D http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMGP0065-1.jpg Had a great time, fished like crazy, found them, at least some including what looked like a school of cobia right under the boat. But no matter what we did and no matter what we gave them to eat they were not interested. Live bait, shrimp, bunch of diffrent spoons plugs jigs they were'nt having any. This is cast master Reelapeelin doing his net dance, he was pretty good at it too, for an old guy :D brought up a couple but bait was deeper than the net would grab, they were very skittish too. We caught most of our live bait with sabiki rigs and my small tackle rod with a small hook and pieces of cut shrimp. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMGP0103-1.jpg Water was so clear I thought I was in the Caribean, could see down 30-40 feet anywhere you looked, found birds working a few times but the bait was not coming high enough to cast net them http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMGP0101-1.jpg Let me tell you I love the V's but Reel Crabby is the foshizzle for where Franco is at http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMGP0062-1.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0063.jpg Though the water can get a little skinny, thank God due to my retirement status I was able to delegate the shallow water ballet to the senior gentlemen this time ;D http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0090.jpg Franco's brother Bill is a cool guy, when it comes to building boats He is the Grand Puhbah and is funny as sh!t. Took us on a grand tour of how they build boats at Pursuit. Let me tell you I found out what you pay for when you buy a premium boat like them. Incredible, and they use the best stuff money can buy at every turn, learned a lot about why things are done the way they are. Bill actually built my V20, worked as Wellcraft's glass/hull builder 81-87 or so.Can't show you the pics from inside the factory as it might cause him some problems but can show these.Franco and brother http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0074.jpg Oz Franco and Bill http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0085.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0084.jpg Upp's how this get in here http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...shinnecock.jpg Here's a shot of Sebastian Vice to the rescue http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0092.jpg Me and Ozzie doing the morning prep http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...IMGP0104-1.jpg Wish I had pics of fish to post, caught a couple of pint size grouper, I am sure Ozzie will be happy to post those ::) Had a great time, Robin took good care of us, came home a few pounds heavier than I left with. Ate out at Captain Hirams a couple of times, great spot. Wanted to stay the last night and party with the girls dancing but Ozzie and the Puhbah dragged me out before I got myself in trouble, I left a little bit in the Jack Daniels bottle just so they would remember I was there. Franco made up some sweet T shirts for our get together and Hammer sent us a little something fed ex which brought a good laugh. Thanks Hammer ;) Pics to follow when Ozzie gets on, he took a bunch of other shots for you guys. Thats all the news that's fit to print 8) |
