Help an old guy out

Listen you computer guys give me some assistance if you will. When I go into the Good Morning thread, and I want to post I hit the reply button and it is taking at least 3-4 minutes before it completes loading and will let me even type in the box.
Today I tried to stimulate your minds and it froze on me twice when it got to a point where it said it was loading from i28 photobucket. Would not go past that point and I had to do a task manager and shut it all down to get out of it.
So befroe very slow and now freezing up
Help :'(

Oh and it is not my internet or connections, did a test on them, or rather my wife did and we are flying at top DSL speed

Do you clean your cache and cookies on a regular basis?

Go into tools, internet options and the general screen will come up.

There are buttons for deleting items.

Deleting all the cookies is usually not good, because some of your passwords are in the cookies.
Delete files is ok, it just cleans out all the junk files internet explorer has saved.
Clear history, only if you do not depend on your address pull down menu.

Cookies can be cleaned manually, by going into the cookie directory and deleting
the files that do not look familiar.

It's not just you WILLY, mine takes awhile to load as well. And I'm running at top speed for cable(7MB downloads, verified numerous times). What is happening is that when you respond it is loading ALL of the previous posts AND pictures. Your probably running out of ram when it is loading all of it. I know that all of the other FORUMS I frequent only put up the last 10 or 20 posts at the bottom of the page to keep the page from dragging down. Maybe the eye can help on this one. Or you can start another GM thread but it would kill your WET.

it seams to run good for me and then gets hung up sometimes.

Yep, Ferms on it! All those pictures take up a $hit load of space and therefore take a while to load.

Unfortunately I never get to look at WET because I post at work :'( But occasionally when the CEO isn't looking I'll sneak a peak on the weekends ;D

Its something with the board!! Some are getting it the for sale section and others in other places, I have gotten two emails on it and I talked to CB today that was also getting error messages,
What ever it is seems to be fixing it self?? Cause all is lighting speed for me and CB said it isn't doing it anymore.

Might be the server??

But all you guy should be deleting cookies and temp files all the time!!
Also should be running Ad aware, cause you wouldn't believe the crap you are downloading and don't even know it!
All this will bog you right down! I have had people give me computers cause they have no idea, I just clean them out and they good to go! I have sold 5 such computers on Craig's list *;D

I don't know if it's the size of the thread or not but MJ is right. *You guy's have to use Ad-Aware. *I run it at least once a day and catch 5-15 programs which have installed themselves on my computer and are consuming system resources. *It is a FREE down load and easy to install/use. *I use DSL at work and a cable modem at home. *No issues with loading WET.

Re: Help an old guy out

There is also a free virus scan that I found,
it has found stuff that our corporate scanner missed.
I used it to clean up my wifes computer and it was amazing.

Here is a link:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives...an/ascan_2.asp

Only problem is, twice a month I get an e-mail asking me to buy a product.
I just delete em, along with the other junk mail.

There is a trick,
the scan will clean viruses and will generate a report
of questionable files.
Print the report and then you can delete the questionables manually.

Just talked with the computer guru CEO here and she said we ran Adware here but we had more problems because it was conflicting with McAfee and screwed up the computer. Any of you guys running it with McAfee?

I use to run McAfee and I did not like it!! Same thing with Norton they take up way to much resources!!

I use a free anti virus called Avast, works great and has take a few things that McAfee did not!! CB is also using a free virus, but I am not sure if it is the same one? Also with out problems for years!

But when I was using McAfee I did not have any problem with Ad ware at all.

MJ when you say they take up too much resources what exactly do you mean, McAfee and Norton are the two biggest selling anti virus's out there, why would they be worse than some small companies product ???
