Truck Bedliners
Drop In or Spray On? I'm leaning toward a drop in for $175 at about half the cost of a spray on. When you read all the info online they will have you believe that a drop in liner will start to rust your bed almost immediately. Is a drop in liner really that bad?

Re: Truck Bedliners
Ive had both and like spray better.
With that said my current truck has none. However, I rolled a section of the tailgate in Durabak when we painted my buddys Robalo just to test it out. I didnt prep or sand the section or anything and its holding up INCREDIBLE. Its way tougher and more skid proof than the Rhino spray on even. Ill be doing my bed in a gallon of Durabak soon. For $120 for a *gallon versus spray on...think about it. *;) |

Re: Truck Bedliners
I think I need to open a Line-X franchise. *The local line-x dealer quoted me $510+ tax for over the rail. *I'm going drop in liner, *by the time the bed rust it will be time for a new truck anyway.

Re: Truck Bedliners
drop in for me...by the time your bed is rusty enough to replace or repair your bed it will be time to get a new truck....i also like the slickness that a dropin has, when loading heavy objects by yourself ya just put it on tailgate then slide it in..cant do that with a rhino or line-x.

Re: Truck Bedliners
Well I have always wanted spray in, but no cash >:(
Read and seen ton's of pictures of both Rino & LineX And LineX is the way to go!! That said if you want a drop in, call around to the Rino or LineX guys, I have one here on Cape that runs a add on Crigs list from time to time. He removes the drop in's some brand new, and throws them in a pile, He gives them away for free, you can take one or all he doesn't care!! But he says he has no time to mark them or search for the one for your truck, so you have to pick the pile yourself. But its free!! Mine is a drop in and the truck is 5 years old, and I had out last summer and not one bit of rust!! I think it has to do with a pad under mine, it doesn';t allow the liner to scuff the paint off? |

Re: Truck Bedliners
One advantage of drop in is, you can backup a little fast and empty the bed by slightly hitting the brakes ;D

Re: Truck Bedliners
I don't have either currently. I have a rubber mat. I have a tonneau cover too, I don't haul that much, but if I need to, I just roll back the cover and load up, the rubber mat protects the bed and keeps stuff from sliding all over the place. Have you looked into a bed blanket? They are pretty nice, looks like carpeting but designed to protect the bed. I don't know about moisture though.
All of my previous trucks had drop-in's. Never kept them long enough to worry about rust through, but they do scuff up the paint pretty bad. I never had the desire to take them out once installed, so I didn't really care about the paint. I think if you are in a salty environment, then a spray is the way to go. |

Re: Truck Bedliners
SpeedLiner is a great spray in as well had one of those too but don't spray it over the bed rails you can't lean on it then without hurting your arms spray it under the rails down.

Re: Truck Bedliners
Mj, Thats a good idea I will try to give a couple of the spray in liner places a call. What kind of pad do you have under your liner.
I think the rest of you guys convinced me that a drop in is the way to go. Just can't justify $545 for a spray in bedliner. I'm going to order it today. |

I have no idea what it is?? It was there already, its like a padded tar paper kind of thing?
Ask the guys when you get a liner I am sure they know. Good Luck!! Let us know if your shops save there old liners, or is just this guy here, might be a great resource for others if it is common practice? |

Re: Truck Bedliners
All it is, is a 2X10 with 6 holes drilled in on a angle to except 6 plastic rod holders. Get at walmart or were ever, about $5 eacxh and you can add as many as you want.
Thats it!! Bedliners have a slot for you to add 2x4 across the bed, just slide in there and you done. For long rods you can, and I will be making another piece that comes out the stake holes and goes across the back with some clips to hold the rods from bouncing around. As we all know it is great for transport, but not security!! Thats how CB lost his stuff last year!! *But I am sure with a little work it could be more secure! http://syncboard.com/albums/album03/Picture_109.jpg http://syncboard.com/albums/album03/Picture_111.jpg http://syncboard.com/albums/album03/Picture_112.jpg |

Truck Bed Liners All Makes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: [email protected] Date: 2007-05-13, 9:15PM EDT I have over ten plastic bed liners for FREE. Just come and take them. Mostly Ford and Dodges full size for Rams and Super Dutys, and F-150's. I think there may be a couple of Toyotas and GMs in there too. If you are interested feel free to come and take them. They are behind my building at 5 Otis Park Drive in Bourne, MA. You may call for directions, but I do not know if these liners will fit your specific truck, you must come and see for yourself. 508-759-9008 Location: Bourne, MA |
